Bits: That's right! Did you know there are actually a bunch of FAKE party-lists out there?

Estelle: Party-list groups are supposed to make sure underrepresented sectors have a voice in Congress. These sectors include workers, farmers, youth, women, indigenous people, and more.

Bits: But here's the tea. Some people make fake party-lists that claim to represent marginalized sectors just so they can have a seat in Congress.

Estelle: Some political dynasties have hijacked the system by making their own party-list groups.

Bits: I heard 78 of the 156 nominated party-lists have ties to political dynasties [text: PCIJ source]

Estelle: But you might be wondering-- how can you tell if a party-list group is real or fake?

Bits: There are lots of ways, but you can start by looking at the group's nominees and checking if they have any prior leadership experience in the sector they claim to represent.
