A character named Brian in a book named Hatchet embodies self-reliance most to me. He has a trait which can best be described as unknown courage in loneliness, best paired with "The power which resides in him is new in nature.'

"Shine" by Henry Rollins was a good song about self reliance. It goes on to describe how he got to where he is by depending and relying on himself. "Ignorance; that imitation is suicide" links well with "Suicide? sorry man i'm not that type" and "If you think you've got 100 extra years to mess around you're wrong."

"Out upon your guarded lips! Sew them up with packthread, do." This image represents the quote because the author is telling the reader that their voice is monitored and controlled, no matter how "free" your speech is. It is a direct stab at forced control of dialect used in many countries, and allows the reader to see his frustration with this burden.

Logos: "Society everywhere is in conspiracy against the manhood of every one of it's members." This quote appeals to Logos because it is showing how society is conspiring against us. It is showing that it logically is conspiring in a way that is not for man, and is strictly against man.
Pathos: "He would gather immortal palms must not be hindered by the name of goodness, but must explore if it be goodness." This quote appeals to Pathos due to it's emotional tie to what is truly good in this world. It explains that you should not just agree with something when you are told it's good, but you should find out or think about if it is truly good or righteous.
Ethos: "...but God will not have his work made manifest by cowards." This quote most closely ties to Ethos because it is a reference to God and his teachings along with what he does not allow. It explains how God will not let his work be taken granted of by cowards. It is a link to God which is an ethical milestone for billions, tying it directly to Ethos.
