In order the model to be useful, beneficial and time-saving for the students, the content and the activities that have been incorporated in the online course would be better designed and developed by the teacher. So, he would monitor the whole process that could guarantee the relevance of the classroom and the online training. Concerning the international learning platforms (Khan Academy), the barrier of the language and the relevance with the national curricula is not the main problem in maths and sciences, but the options for students would be better to remain limited and selected, approved and adjusted by the teacher.
Additionaly, privacy issues with the international platforms may arise with the signing-in of young students.

Some of the challenges we are presented with concerning the self-blend model are:
-Finding the right course as the plethora of online courses available may be overwhelming for students. The teacher in this case has to provide appropriate guidance.
So, the teacher has to be updated with the latest and most beneficial online teaching resources in order to advise and direct students well.
-The age and levels of maturity, commitment and motivation may also be a problem. On the one hand, younger students are not as disciplined as needed to manage such independence in their learning process. Older students , on the other hand - despite being willing to make the effort - might be burdened with a lot of responsibilities and have such a tight daily schedule that causes them to struggle to meet the demands of both online and on-site learning. Remaining motivated throughout in this case is really challenging.
-Finally the on-site and online courses need good co-ordination and in case different students of a course attend different online courses, the teacher will surely have a hard time putting all the pieces of the puzzle together.

Frankly, I don't see much benefit in this model. It seems to me that there is a waste of face-to-face time with the students. In my opinion, the time with the students should be used to discuss, reflect, debate, etc... The instruction/acquisition can be left to be done autonomously.
