This was surprising because in the beginning John's mother wanted nothing to do with him.

Glossamer takes place in a foster home in a fantasy world.

I do recommend this book if you like fantasy books. It is a very detailed book and very easy to follow. The vocabulary is not complex either.

3.8/5 stars

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

November, 2022

I wanted to read this book because I had heard about it a while ago but never found the time to read it.

A surprising moment in the story was when Annemarie was headed to the boat that will bring Ellen's family and other Jewish families across the water to Sweden. She got stopped by Nazi soldiers. Luckily what she was bringing was a special rag to make sure the Nazi dogs can't smell so she didn't get caught bringing items.

Number the stars takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark during the Holocaust.

5/5 stars

Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell

I wanted to read this book because it had been sitting on my bookshelf for a while but I couldn't pull myself to read it. We then needed a fiction book for language arts and this was the perfect time to read it.

A surprising moment in the story was when the protagonist, Karana and her brother, Ramo were left on the island their tribe left. Ramo went to find the tribes canoe's but did not return. Karana went searching for her little brother but all she heard were faint dogs barking. The wild dogs on the island ended up killing her brother.

The story takes place on an Island in the Pacific Ocean in the 1800's. The island is roamed by vicious wild dogs and the seas are filled with animals.

I do recommend Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell because it uses figurative language in a way that you can still understand the plot easily. I also recommend the story because it is very intense and I didn't want to put the book down, I wanted to see what happened next.

4.5/5 stars
