Try something new, and then try it again and make it better!! It is a great mindset to also pass along to our students.

There was so much that I learned throughout this course but here are a few of the highlights:
-It is okay for students to have a productive struggle in order to grow.
-It is very important to praise the effort, hard work, and process of the students.
-Posters are a great way to keep growth mindset and "not yet" at the forefront of the school.
-It is important to teach the students how our brain works.
-Educating parents if important as well. That way they can model growth mindset at home and reinforce it as well.

I know that I am never done learning about having GM within myself. I know that I am never done searching for strategies, language, and resources for how to best teach it in my classroom. I know that teaching consistent GM throughout the year will yield the best results. I know that a culture of GM will change my students perceptions of themselves and overall learning.

This is a hard one to summarize in a short padlet! I will do the big ones:
-I appreciated all of the brain-based research behind the power of GM. I hope to use brain-science examples with my students.
-I learned that there are many ways to foster GM in my students, beginning with me. Through language, especially, I can make BIG changes in my ability to teach GM to my students.
-I have learned that careful planning (unit plan) and intentional lessons, I can structure and scaffold lessons that will specifically target students' fixed mindsets and affect real change.
-I have learned that I am never done learning and practicing! There is so much more to try, seek out, and discover with GM!
