Everyone's heard the phrase, "put yourself in someone else's shoes," or, "walk a mile in their shoes." There are some situations in which it's hard to see what you could do better then the people who lived through them. Even harder then real situations are situations in books or movies. Especially in books like Lord of the Flies. In the book, in general, the characters are not given many good choices to begin with. Even early on, in the second chapter, they are presented with a problem, one that Piggy is the first to notice. He notices that there is a fire on the island, and that some of the kids are missing. After that, it's not spoken of again. It is hard to know what I would do differently. I do know that after the fire had all burned out, I would try to find out if any of the children had survived. I would also probably try to find some way to control the fire, either with water that I could bring to douse the flames, or by getting sand to throw over the flames. I do know, or at least I hope, that if I was in that situation I would at least try to help out.
