The iPod completely revolutionised how we now listen and love music. Apple were already an established name before this technology, being one of the biggest record companies in the world. But it would be the iPod which solidifiied their place in modern history. This film was the ground work in what would become the highest grossing film franchise ever, spanning 23 interconnected films, many TV shows and tie-in comic, this was unprecedented in terms of the media and films.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe revolutionised cinema. The streaming platform changed the world of television and film, how we entertainment ourselves and challenged traditional Film Corporations. They began by aquiring the rights of huge films and tv shows, going onto produce and distribute their own content which has been hugely successful with audiences and critics. Whilst the monthly subscription fee has increased it is still cheaper than DVDs or rental downloads and is still at a competitive price.

The popularity of online streaming grew interest from huge companies, with Amazon, Disney, Sky and HBO all starting their own platform all with relatively varied success.

Media Concomerates started investing huge amounts of money in TV shows on streaming platforms and traditional TV Channels. There was much controversy at the beginning of this scheme with worries from parents that it could cause cyberbullying on social media and teachers worried that it would distract the students in the classroom instead of focusing on the task at hand.

It became who I was - which sounds pretty sad I suppose. I filled my room with Doctor Who wallpaper, toys, curtains, magazines, books and DVDs (I was everything the merchandise team preyed on.) 

The popularity of the show took Science Fiction into the 21st Century influencing other shows like Torchwood, Merlin, Stranger Things and even Rick and Morty.

For two years on and off I was involved in numerous storylines including Simon Barlow being involved in a gang, Amy Barlow's Pregnancy and more recently a storyline surrounding indecent images of a child being spread around teenagers.

These books enabled me to enjoy and analyse this medium. Cards are now considered an old-fashioned way of purchasing things, but are still essential when buying more expensive products. 
Most smart phones now have the feature built in so it makes it easier for us to shop if we forget our card or cash and most shops now accept this feature. 

It is a little bit dangerous that we trust these companies with our personal banking information just because it makes our life a little easier and the Apple Pay offers no limit on what you can spend. if your phone is stolen this could be very dangerous to your finances.

With consumers spending an average of 24 hours a week on social media its the most consistent place advertisers will find their consumers. Every couple of posts or stories o my feed I am met with a new advert. 

Social Media is now used to build brand awareness, engage new customers, introduce new products, maintain current customers and share brand promotions.

I was so excited, I felt left out as many of my friends already had it from such a young age, which is quite worrying. 

I loved the idea of instantly connecting with your friends and seeing what everyone was up to - as I am quite a nosey person. As I got older I created more Social Media accounts like Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and more recently TikTok. 

The information I share has got more year on year, you can see someone's exact location and see what they had for lunch if they decide to share it. Whilst Film and Television productions have shut down around the world, tech giants like Amazon have thrived in the pandemic with increased sales of deliveries. This has come as a result of the coronavirus pandemic where film studios shifted most of their films on to various streaming platforms. 

This is the biggest announcement and change in modern cinema. Whilst many people, like myself, enjoy the experience of going to cinema, this will have a massive effect on Cinemas around the world which are already strugglng in the modern media world, with many film companies choosing streaming platforms to release their films on as it's most likely to reach a wider audience and sit in the comfort of their own home.

Whilst many do prefer to go to the shops and browse at clothes so they know which size is right for them, the popularity of sitting in the comfort of your own home and looking online is rising.

Pretty Little Thing, ASOS and BooHoo.com have been at the forfront of the move online with amazing success. The convenience they offer as well as the personal identity and connection with customers via social media, using so-called 'Influencers' to market their products, are just a few reasons for their success.

Disney aquired Fox film and TV studios, the FX networks, National Geographic, Sky and a 30% stake in the streaming service Hulu. Whilst Fox News and other news media related products stayed with Murdoch.

The Vote Leave campaign were accused of targeting a small group of Facebook users who fit the profile. They were targetted with ADs which had false claims about immigrants and in particular Turkey, which were unfounded. 

This lead to the Cambridge Analytica scandal which had been linked to the outcomes of both the Brexit and 2016 Presidential Election. Whilst many countries tried to hold Facebook to account, very little change happened and makes you think how much power do Facebook, in particular Mark Zuckerburg, have when they can just ignore governments. 

Although this did lead to a change in privacy laws and the current GDPR regulations in the UK.
