Earth has different layers. There is the atmosphere, the biosphere, the hydrosphere, and the lithosphere. The lithosphere is the crust and part of the mantle. The crust, the mantle, and the inner and outer core are all layers in earth's surface. Scientists learn about these layers by using seismic waves from earthquakes and meteorites. There are 2 types of waves that come from seismic waves, body waves and surface waves. In between the lithosphere and the core there is the asthenosphere which can flow and bend.
