Any person can be infected with tuberculosis. The individuals at greater risk of getting it to include people: who live in, come from, or have spent time in an area with high levels of TB. Also, people with HIV are at high risk of being diagnosed with the bacterial infection. Some who are infected with M. tuberculosis within the past 2 years, particularly infants and toddlers can be infected.

The most common way to treat TB is with prescribed medications. The best combination to treat the disease with is isoniazid INH combined with rifampin, pyrazinamide and ethambutol. Although these prescriptions may make you feel better, TB takes a lot longer to get rid of than other infections. Many must take antibiotics for six to nine months. The exact amount of drug prescribed depends on age, overall health, possible drug resistance and the infection's location in the body

Some symptoms involved with tuberculosis are coughing, weight loss, fever, chills, and night sweats. Most people infected with this particular bacterial infection never develop tuberculosis disease. If the patient does develop the disease, it may occur two to three months after infection or years later. Not every person infected shows symptoms. TB becomes noncontagious after taking their prescribed medications for two weeks.
