They use him to con people out of their money, since the village think he is a mythical creature.

One example of satire is when Gulliver calls the little girl Glumdaclitch, which means nurse. This is sarcasm, and the little girl treats him more like a doll than anything.

Another example of satire is a hyperbole. This is shown throughout the chapter because the giants see him as a fearsome creature when he is really just a small person

Travesty is also shown when the giants see him as a curse to the village.

In the first paragraph he is discribing the country/ land he has traveled to, as the chapter went on he was talking about the kingdom that he has find himself in alone with the royalty in this kingdom. He has obviously traveled to the land of giants. Swift used this chapter to mostly explain how everything was so much bigger then Gulliver himself, while explaining the descriptive words he used really painted a picture in your mind.

Gulliver is used as a puppet which is an incongruity because they compare gulliver size to their own.

2. He uses a thimble as a glass to drink wine which is juxtaposition because the thimble is small to the giants but large to gulliver.

3. He is riding to the market in his box which is oxymoron because he describes the horses steps as 40 feet long strides which are contradictory.

4. The farmer found gulliver which was an incongruity because the farmer compares him to a splacnuck.

Gulliver wants to teach the king about England. Talks about gunpowder and the king hates the idea of gunpowder. If Gulliver mentions gunpowder again he will be executed. Then he starts talking about the customs and government in England. Specifically the military and the government system.

Examples of satire:

1. “This I humbly offered his majesty.” He is saying this as if his pistol is no big deal.

2. “Some evil genius, enemy to mankind, must have been the first contriver.” This shows the opposing views of Gulliver and the king.

3. “This was my sincere endovour in those many discourses I had with that monarch although it unfortunately failed of success.” He is saying that the king pretty much thinks he succeeded but he didin’t.
