The widely popular use of smartphones has been an encouragement towards constant communication. Also, with the continuous advances in the world of technology, many schools, especially in the past decade, have begun to use a variety of online programs for educational use (i.e. homework, classwork, projects, dispersing resources). Some people, (especially those who grew up without cellphones and/or social media) believe that the invention of the smartphone and social media (which is mainly popular due to the popularity of smartphones) has had negative effects on people’s abilities to socialize in person with one another in person. Others (especially those who were still early in their life/not born when the invention of smartphones occurred) believe that smartphones and/or social media has taught society to more communicative with each other.

They are a part of our everyday activities and we expect them to be a part of everyone else's.  Their commonality has caused some people to become insensitive to others’ socioeconomic backgrounds.  Additionally, the way that smartphones connect users and the speed at which they do it  has geared society towards a point of instantaneous interaction.
