1. My parents do not want me to follow in their career footsteps because they want me to be happy. They do want me to get a good education which is why they strive for me to get good grades so I can go to a good college and get a good job. I feel that with too much stress that parents put on their child can cause the children to turn out opposite of what they desire. That is why my parents do not put that much stress on my because they want me to be happy with my career choice. They would rather have me marry a rich husband and stay at home and be happy instead of following their career. 

2. I admire the fact that people can make their own path and not care what others say, and how they become rich or happy and all the work pays off. Along with also working hard and getting the job done without procrastinating. Time management because dealing with all tasks and homework and sports. I admire someone who can be humorous but still be serious and knowning when and when not to use humor. Lastly, I admire people who put their minds to things and will nonstop work for it until they have reached it. Hickman, Jr., Sonny’s ideas about family are generated from the relationship he has with each of his family members. Sonny deep down truly loves his family but does not always see eye to eye with what each member has to say. Sonny displays how his thoughts about families when he listens to his parents, because he knows that they know what’s best for him. He listens to some extent because both of his parents have two different views on thing. Homer Hickman Sr., Sonny’s father, believes that building rockets is stupid, and that the building must not continue. Homer decided to take matters into his own hands by announcing, “This is the end of it, ...and this time I mean it” (Hickam 95). Homer threw all of Sonny’s rocket supplies into the creek. Homer thinks he has proven his point but Sonny knows that this isn’t the end of it. On the other hand, Sonny’s mother supports the rocket building because she believes it will help him get out of Coalwood and into a good college and have a better life. Sonny’s mother contracted Homer’s words by explaining, “I believe you can build a rocket. He doesn’t. I want you to show him I’m right and he’s wrong” (Hickman 44). Sonny knows that family is an important thing, and that it is hard for his father to show him love just because he is not the stereotype that his father desires.
