This suggests that Andrew is not disciplined as strictly as Richard. Whereas in source B, Richard shows much more respect to his father by "only breaking his silence...with a respectful 'yes sir' response" when Richard was confronted by his father about his behaviour. This is evident when Andrew says "He even said he had half a mind to stop wasting his money on my private education.  I know he’s angry, but I think his outburst was a bit of an overreaction." 
This shows that Andrew has no appreciation for how much it costs his father to put him through private school. Whereas in scource B Richard is turning 16 and he sits in a corner only speaking to answer his fathers questions. "Richard sat quietly all evening, his hands folded in his lap., as Father ranted about how the party was a waste of the little money we have.  Richard e only broke his silence to acknowledge Father’s tirade with a respectful “Yes, Sir”. " This shows that Richard comes from a poor family in contract to Andrews family, it also shows that Richard is not spoilt and doesnt expect a great deal as he knows how hard the family has to work for the little money that they earn to live, from the quote we as readers can also feel a sense of intimidation in Richards household.

Andrew writes: "his outburst was a bit of an overeaction" . The freedom Andrew appears to have in expressing himself in this way suggests that Andrew is living a relatively modern time, when he is able to openly criticise his father and express his frustrations towards his parenting as any modern teen should.

However, in source B the disparity between the father and son relationship in comparison to source A is clearly visible. for example, Richard refer to his father 'Yes Sir', this clearly shows the authoritarian role of the father and how Richard is forced to be quite which could be an indication of his fear from his father.
