However, above, "Lady" is circled in red, signifying this was a woman. This proposed the existence of a Culper female spy, codenamed as 355, who happened to be Robert Townsend's mistress. Pennypacker, the governor of Pennsylvania, suggested that Agent 355 had been arrested and imprisoned on the infamous British Prison ship, Jersey, and given birth to Robert Townsend's illegitimate child aboard the ship before passing away.
