This text makes many statements about how all literary texts are not original and unique, they have been developed using ideas or statements from prior texts. It also states how the concept of intertextuality is a literary theory which explains how all texts have been influenced or are altered versions from previous literary works.

There are 2 types of intertextuality, deliberate and latent. Deliberate intertextuality is when a text or phrase has purposely been used whilst latent intertextuality has made a reference to a literary work coincidentally.

I agree with the idea that reading becomes a process of moving between texts, plunging the reader into a web of textual relations, and a network of other texts that the author, Kalogirou Tzina makes. Nowadays, whilst reading a text/ watching a film our brains immediately make connections to other texts/films, making us really think whether that connection was accidental or purposeful and what other hidden meanings the composer might have left us.

This article was published in August of 2021 by Master Class. In this article it discusses that intertextuality is the idea that all literary works are influenced by pervious texts. This essentially states that no work is entirely original. This idea was introduced by Julia Kristeva in the 1960's and she believes that intertextuality can either be deliberate which means that they have intentional references, adaptations or homages or latent which means it was an unconscious influence and it wasn't intended. Some examples of intertextuality include that 'The Lion King' is a retelling of 'Hamlet" and 'Ulysses' mirrors 'The Odyssey'. There are 3 general tips for using intertextuality which are explore different genres, acknowledge influences and to avoid plagiarism. Intertextuality enriches storytelling by connecting literature across time and making new works deeper and more meaningful.

The literary theory states that people still indirectly copy and adapt all the time, even if the media itself is different.
