today Lara introduced the module. she gave us an overview of the module and the expectations. this week we are going to think about the short film that we are going to do, different roles and to make sure that we are all in contact.

today we spoke about our current skills and how/what we need to do to develop these skills to succeed in my role. last trimester I had the role of camera. this time I have camera and lighting. I am one step ahead because I already used the camera so I know how to operate it, now it's all about using advanced settings on the camera.

lighting wise I also operated lights last trimester, but it wasn't my role, so I will need to do some research.

we finalized the script, shots and everything we need before filming even though we are not going to film for the next two weeks. we have booked equipment and we tested each scene to avoid problems on filming day

Filming

We filmed for two days, Friday and Sunday. Friday we filmed at Hannah’s flat. we filmed in her room, her living room and the park (peel park). On Sunday we filmed at the restaurant I work at, Gusto. Everything went quiet smoothly, we were organised and efficient.

Reviewing footage

We reviewed all the footages and we realised that one scene in the living room and every scene in the restaurant are a bit too dark, so we rescheduled to shoot again on Sunday.

reshooting

we went to Hannah's flat again to reshoot the scenes. thankfully my manager let us come back the Sunday after and we made sure that the lighting was good.

beginning of editing

we started editing our own footage. its going well thanks to production skills last trimester, although I forgot to put all the footage on the one drive folder so I might have to find each shot again.

This lesson was really helpful with my role. It helped me understand how frames work and being the cameraman, it was definitely necessary.
