How did we use creativity to communicate our message?
By using Canva to create an infographic with bright colors and images.
What challenges did we face when selecting digital tools and formats?
Challenges included keeping the words to a minimum while still getting the message across, as well as deciding which fonts and pictures to use.
What will we do differently next time?
Next time I would add more resources within my artifact to encourage interaction with my audience (ex: hyperlinks, QR code).
How could we adapt this activity for our future classrooms?
I could include a QR code to scan that leads to an interactive quiz or game to review the content.

I created this inforgraphic to serve as an example of close reading for a high school English 2 classroom. I recently taught a lesson about figurative langauge to my students using their class novel, Long Way Down, and I think a resource like this would have been incredibly beneficial for them to have. How did we use creativity to communicate our message? By using Powerpoint to create a digital and colorful explanation on the topic!
What challenges did we face when selecting digital tools and formats? It was hard to contain all the information I wanted to type out instead of talk to the class.
What will we do differently next time? Try and add more bullet points and more color to get the children's attention.
How could we adapt this activity for our future classrooms? At the end of the powerpoint I could have a link that students could follow on classroom tablets because the powerpoint was shared with them and this link to have a short quiz for them to take which is easier for me grading what they have learned and good for them so they know to pay attention.

My poster is directed towards 6th or 7th grade students, it also could be given as a handout at the beginning of the unit discussing plate tectonics. My poster is to inform students regarding plate tectonics and if used in my lesson I would leave blank the boxes under each plate allowing students to fill in the boxes with the definition on the corresponding slide show.

AGE BAND 8-11, 12-14

I used creativity to communicate my message by incorporating minimalistic, informative images with each blurb to help break up the text and make the piece more digestible. It was also important to me that each image was a similar art style to maintain consistency and aesthetics.
Finding images that fit the vibe of the infographic was a tad difficult but all together, Canva is very easy to work with and I would recommend to any first-time infographic creator.
Next time I could add animations to keep readers engaged. However, this could also be used as a poster in a classroom where animations would not be necessary.
To adapt this infographic to my future classroom I might simplify it more, I plan to teach 1st grade and the vocabulary and format might not be suitable for ages 6-7.

This is my "Creative Communicator" approach to helping students get more protein! Protein is crucial for the brain to support learning everyday. This is aimed towards the 12-14 age band, as they have more say/control over what they eat than the little ones. I used a simple so they could easily understand my facts. With a simple caption under each ranking, the readers will understand why it's placed where it is and what it contributes to their diet. Next time, I could draft meals that students can make easily. Lastly, I could have this posted in my classroom to inform parents of healthy food choices, as well as simplify the words for a younger audience.
