The concrete operational stage of development is the stage of cognitive development in which a child is capable of performing a variety of mental operations and thoughts using concrete concepts. The stage lasts from ages 7-11. In the video a well established understanding of reversibility. By age 7 children are able to process simple concepts such as 1+1=2 so 2=1+1.

This is the second stage in Piaget's theory of cognitive development and begins around age 2, as children start to talk, and lasts until about the age 7. During this stage, children begin to engage in typical play and learn to manipulate symbols. This video shows how at this age toddlers begin to develop the ability to fantasize. We demonstrated magical thinking by drawing a unicorn.

The formal operational stage is the fourth of Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development. It begins at approximately age 11 and lasts into adulthood. At this point in development, thinking becomes much more sophisticated and advanced. The video shows that in the fourth stage children are able to do more advanced things, such as Algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. We showed this in the video by writing the equation of a straight line.

The first stage of development is the Sensorimotor stage. This stage begins at birth and lasts through 24 months of age. In the video an object is presented and then taken away. When the object is taken away it shows that object permanence has not developed yet. At 5-8 months, babies are not able to grasp the idea that an object is hidden and did not disappear.
