I quickly realized how critical it is for teachers to lay the foundation as the students who have not been given an opportunity to learn or experience a true science lesson enter 5th grade. My students come to me knowing very minimal to no science content. From then on, it is my responsibility to teach them 5th grade content, as well as 3rd and 4th grade material. Because of this, my job as a science teacher is a lot more stressful than I would have ever imagined it being.
