Given the ongoing challenges posed by social media, it is crucial for educators to incorporate digital citizenship as an essential component of every student's education. Instead of avoiding this digital realm, our approach should embrace it. Our goal should be to guide students in understanding the importance of digital ethics and etiquette. Numerous resources are available to facilitate discussion about cyberbullying and encourage students to commit to a pledge.

My professional perspective working as a lead teacher for four years is centered around supporting the overall success and development of students, teachers, and the school community. This Legal Guide Padlet is a resource for educators to ensure they follow the current legal requirements of cyberbullying at their schools. I chose this topic because close to 64% of students in Texas claimed to have been cyberbullied and explained that it negatively impacted both their feelings of safety and ability to learn at school (Faris, 2019). Which can also lead to 15% of students skipping school, the equivalent of 3 million kids (Faris, 2019). A school should be a safe environment for students to express themselves, outside factors like cyber bullying can affect their ability to learn and sometimes attend school. With an understanding of new laws and resources an educator can minimize cyberbullying.
