I think that working a cardiac arrest sounds really stressful. The scene is chaotic, and it is pertinent that we get the patient to the hospital as soon as possible. Meanwhile, we have to act like everything is fine even though it obviously is not. We don't want to accidentally scare the patient or family members that may be present. If we can keep ourselves and everyone else mostly calm, then we can have better control of the scene.

I have not worked a cardiac arrest scene. I think it would be stressful and fast paced. Wanting to get the situation under control as soon as possible. I think of myself being calm and reactive on the outside while inside is running around like I am on fire.

This is on the list of things I haven't encountered yet. I would imagine it would seem fairly chaotic. I'm curious to how the first time will really feel, like hours vs minutes or vice versa. Being in control of your emotions and aware of the situation is going to be the key. Remaining professional while on the inside feels like a dumpster fire.

One of the hardest things to remember during cpr is if you’re going at the right speed. It does help to do a song or another method that helps to remember the beat you need to go at. One thing I wish they added to cpr is animals, I have heard of calls where they had to give oxygen and stuff to animals but they never do teach what to do with animals in cpr not that we would do it often but the knowledge would be nice to know

Haven't had to do CPR on a live person yet, but the fact that I know how is a huge plus for me. One of the things I like about it is that I don't need special equipment to do it. So if I'm out and about, I don't need all of my kit to provide some care. I could perform it better with my proper gear but without it is still doable and I think that's pretty neat. Cardiac situations are one of the worst problems out there for patients and knowing what to do is just cool.

While I haven't encountered a situation like this yet, I feel like I'm ready. Since we've practiced CPR so much it's starting to be something where I trust my skills and I won't doubt myself. My first call with it will of course be something I'll be nervous for, but I know how to do my job effectively.

I have yet to come across a situation where I have needed to use any CPR knowledge I have accumulated, but given all the training I have had, I am confident in my skills. I believe that I would be able to start getting people organized and start care at a minimum, which is about all you can do in most cases. I feel fortunate to have done this on the timeline I have because I was certified in CPR at the end of last year, helped with a class later on last year, and have practiced again in this class; between all of the training and practice I have gotten at these intervals, I feel reasonably confident.

When it goes from practicing on mannequins to an actual patient can be very anxious and stressful but all that goes out the window when you have a great team of coworkers and everyone works together and all you are thinking about is saving a life.
