I do believe it is important to have a woman on Canadian currency and currency in other parts of the world for multiple reasons. To begin, woman have made many contributions to Canada thoughout the centuries. Unfortunenatly, society often over looks women's great accomplishments. For instance,Nellie Mcclung Laura Secord and Jean Augustine all made amazing things happen for Canada, but are failed to be recognized in the same manner as men. Having a Canadian woman on our currency would constantly remind us of their achievements and hard work they put in for our country. A woman on the bill would change history and create more equality in our society. A woman depicted on our currency would mean that both men and women are equally celebrated for their contributions and achievements. Furthermore, I feel depicting a Canadian woman on our bank notes would be an inspiration to young girls to show them that they can accomlish greatness. To conclude, having a woman depicted on our currency would continue our trajectory towards gender equality.

Do I believe that women should be agnolaged on Canadian currency, yes because many great people in the world are women. Some of the women like Harriet Tubman and Laura Secord deserve to be on a bill or a coin because of the good deeds they did to society.Women on coins and bills can mean somthing really important, like female Impowerment and the rights of women everwhere. One of the great women who should be on a coin Is Mina Benson Hubbard, a great female explorer. Her husband died of starvation on his journey to Labrador. So she thought she should take revenge and finish his journey. All the other women thought she could never do what a man could do,but she proved them wrong. She Is just one of the many great women who should be on a coin or bill.Women can do just as many great things as a man can. Also did you notice most of the people on the bills are men so It would be nice for our society to have a change In who they put on the bills. To conclude this Is why I beleve that Important women should be on a bill or a coin, and I really hope that In the future they will keep adding more and more women on our canadian currency.

Yes, I do think that important women should be represented on the bill because Canada has had many women that have done good for Canada throughout history. Also, important women on a Canadian bill will say something to society at large because this would be a great moment in history. Just listen to this "Today we celebrate the 20 years of a women, besides the Queen being on the Canadian bill." This would also be a huge achievement for women. Furthermore, this would say that women are important to Canada and this would say that Canada is not racist and Canada is a very bilingual(in races and in genders). I think it says this because there many racist countries that don't allow different races in there country and some countries don't allow a certain gender (women) to do very much in the country without being killed. In addition, having a women on the Canadian bill would show that Canada is not a sexist country. To conclude, this is why a Canadian women should be on the bill and how it would benefit Canada's society.

Lots of Canadian woman aren't represent on Canadian currency but I firmly believe that it is highly important that they should be represented for a nemerous amount of reasons. Firstly, there are many important Canadian woman who I believe should be represented in a strong way and what better way to represent these woman than on Canadian Currency. An example of an important woman that could be on Curreny is Laura Secord. She is highly important because she walked 32km out of American occupied territory in 1813 to warn British forces of an impending America attack. Why should someone so important not be on currency? Furthermore, the deciption of important woman on currency says something to our sisieity that is quite fascinating. It's might be saying that in our history men's actions are more highlighted than woman's. Also, that men were more important than woman in history. I think it says this because many years ago in Canada woman and men got unequal rights. For example, woman were not allowed to vote. But, now that has changed. But still if that has changed why has It tooken so long for woman to be represented on currency? Overall, I firmly believe that woman should be represented on currency.

I think it is very important for the women of Canada to be on Canadian currency for many reasons. Firstly, women and men are both equally important to society which means, both genders should be showcased on a bill that shows important people. Also, Canadian women have not been on a coin for more than 100 years. That means the Important women of Canada could have been on the coin along time ago and it would be upseting if they still are'nt shown on the bill for other years to come. Furthermore, I believe putting the face of an inspiring women on the bill would help whatever women is on the bill. Fo example, Rosmary Brown or Emily Carr gain recognishin. In addition, if we see the face of a women on a bill it can teach young people about the importance of these women and if they have not done what they have done, history would have changed and we would not have been we're we are today. When women are not on the bill it teaches people that most women are not as important as men. Think of that, it's not the message we would want to give to the young children of Canada such as myself. Although there are also some other things we could change about the Canadian currency. I think it would be even better If we can add an African American, Aboriginal, Asian on Latina women on the bill to add a much needed affect on the bill. Women have been through alot thoughout history, having little prevIidges and overall, not being anywhere near as equall as men. Having a women on the bill would give us time to appreciate these important women. Therefore, think putting a women on a bill could make both genders equally treated for the reasons stated above.

April 21st 2016 ❤️

I believe that having a woman represented on the Canadian currency is vital for many reasons. Firstly, a woman hasn't been on the Canadian bill EVER in Canadian history, this could impact immigrants who want to immigrate to Canada because if the immigrants think Canada is a sexist country, they might think that they will have a disadvantage (if they are a woman). Also, if you go mabye 100 years in the future and kids are learning about history, they can see that Canada wasn't helping gender and equality by not putting a woman on the Canadian currency. This could give a bad reputation toward Canada and its society. In addition, woman have done many historical things in this world. An example of this is is Nellie Mclung, Nellie Mclung is a feminist, politician, author, and a social activist, she is a very important woman in history, but yet she hasn't been acknowledged on currency, or anything at all, not yet atleast. Overall, I firmly believe that woman should be acknowledged, known, represented, for their brave, kind, and strong actions verbally and physically.

As a woman, I do strongly believe it is important to have a woman who is strongly admired, on our Canadian currency. I think a woman on the currency would help our country by representing we are not a sexist country. It is good for us to show that we are not sexist because then woman who are not appreciated will come here. However, the depiction of the women can say women are strong and they can do anything men can. Also, I think this says Canada is not a sexist place.

Through out history, many men and women have done great things, and their accomplishments have been shown in many places, however, only men have had the opportunity to have their face on a dollar bill, not women. Although, I believe that women should have the same opportunities as men for many reasons. For one, some women deserve the spot on the coin more then others. For instance, Nellie Mcclung. She and four others(the famous five) fought against many people to let women be apart of senate. Also, Laura Secord. She walked 32 KM out of an american territory to warn the British forces of an american attack. Maybe even Mina Benson Hubbard. She was the first white women to explore Newfoundland. Two, lets say someone wanted to immigrate to Canada because they had a dictating government, and they were catholic so they believed everyone was equal, but then they got a hold of one of our dollar bills. What do you think their picture of Canada would look like now? Well, they would probably think Canada doesn't respect women's rights so they would probably immigrate somewhere else, even though Canada does respect every gender, religion, and beliefs. Three, through out the years, before humans even existed, dinosaurs ruled the earth with their big teeth, sharp claws, long necks and tiny arms, but one day, a meteor struck earth killing all the dinosaur and leaving nothing but their bones. Yet, later in time, the human race began discovering new things like, light and technology, even the dinosaurs remains. To this day, different people(also known as archaeologist) search for the remains of dinosaurs as there jobs seeing what life was like when dinosaurs ruled the earth. Now, lets say the human race was wiped out like the dinosaurs and a new species of half dog, half dolphin took over, and lets say they started discovering our artifacts like the dollar bill. If women were not on the bill they would think women never existed or even worse, they could think women were nobodys, out casts, or even a mistake to the way of life. Although, none of these things are true because women contribute a lot to society at large. Comparatively, if men were only on the dollar bill, it would show that they contribute more to society and that women are meaningless to civilization. On the other hand, if men and women were on the dollar bill, it would show that both genders balance our nation. In total, I do believe women should be on the dollar bill for many reasons, but it's not just me who believe's, Justin Trudeau also agrees with the idea. On the internet, I found a video called "Trudeau announces a Canadian woman will grace new bank note", and in the video it said that it has been almost 150 years that we have not had a Canadian women on the dollar bill, and after, that Justin Trudeau announced that he believes it is high time to change. To conclude, I do believe women should be on the dollar bill for the reasons stated above. (THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO MY WORDS AND MY BELIEFS)

I think the depiction of women on currency does say something to society at large. It says that women have changed our society and are an inspiration to young girls and to show them that they can make a change and have a voice. For example Harriet Tubman was a women who was born in slavery yet escaped and helped other people escape and she will be on the American 20 dollar bill because she made a change. I think having women on currency says that women have changed our society economically and it shows that we have gender equality in our society.

Truly, I believe that is critical to have important women represented on our currency. Throughout our history, women haven't been treated equally either with laws or even in general. Think about it, you don't see women like Luara Second on the big bills. To begin with, women are unique and can acommpolish anything if they put there minds to it. Speaking from the opposite gender, I've noticed that in the past and even in the present, there has only been men our Canadian bank notes (excluding the honerable Queen Elizabeth the II). Think about all the important women like Agnes Macphail or Nellie Mcclung who did exceptional things for Canada, you don't see them on our bank notes. I also believe that when women are on our currency, it expresses that Canada is such a equal country and it expresses how Canada treats men and women equally. In addition, women have been through a lot through the past and even now, even through there hard work, they still don't get what they deserve. Furthermore, I believe that not only should there be just Canadian women on our currency, there should also be natives like Pauline Johnson and Alanis Obomsawin (both women did an extrodenary work for the native culture and rights). To conclude, from the facts stated above, I believe that women should be represented on our Canadian currency. The dipiction of women on our currency unmistakably shows that Canada is that close to being a country that has fair laws and treats men and women equally. Canada is still striving to that happy place where "Are women different?" is a boring question.

I think it is very important to represent Important Canadian Women on the Canadian Currency. Why, you might ask? On most of the bills, Men are mostly represented. Women are people as well. I think Women should be represented too, plus women have also done many significant things in the past, not just Men. The depiction of Impotant Canadian Women on currency states that women should be acknowledged at large. I think it says this because the picture can show that women are important too. On the next coins or bills, I'm expecting to see Nellie McClung, Rosemary Brawn, Barbara Ann Scott, Perdita Felician, and Laura second.

That is why I agree on having Important Canadian Women on Canadian currency. First of all, women have made a huge impact in the world For example, Malala, Nellie mclung, Rosemary Brown, Laura Secord, etc. What these women did made a huge impact to our respect to Women, just like Laura secord, she walked 32km out of a american territory to warn the british forces of an american attack. In addition, I think the depiction of important women to society shows that Canada is a Gender inequality free country. I think it say's this because throughout history only important Canadian men were represented on the Canadian currency which tell's people that women aren't important and they shouldn't be represented on Canadian bills, so when they decided to put a woman on the bill, it showed that Canada is a Gender inequality free country.

Throughout Canada's history, we have made many bills with many historic people on it. However, none of the people were women (excluding the Queen). But that was in the past. In the present, there will be important women on Canadian currency, women who did historical things that had a big positive impact on Canadian history.
This year, we enter the age of women, that's how I call it. Women are important, they helped make our world, and Canada a better place to live. It is important to have women represented on Canadian currency because women have done historical things, which men can't do. They have changed our society for the better, and what do they get for it? Nothing. So are we a country who is against gender equality? Yes and no. Why? We don't do child marriage, and women can work for equal rights. No, because we have not put any women on our bills (once more, excluding the Queen). So yes, women are important.
Also, the depiction of important women says "Women are equal". I think it says this because, sometimes women aren't treated as well as men. Men will think that women don't have the strength to do things. But that's not true. In addition, women had done important things we just took for granted instead taking time to appreciate them. To conclude, women are strong, independent, and important.

For many years there has been lots of important men represented on the Canadian currency but only ever once threre has been an important woman on a Canadian bill. This woman is queen Elizabeth a very important woman. I think as a girl it is very important to have a woman on Cnadian currency for these reasons. For this reason. For many years woman were not aloud to vote in Canada but by putting the face if an important woman on a Canadian currency this may get more people to immigrate to Canada not just for the many things Canada already offers but for equal rights as women and men . Some very important woman that put their mind to it and accomplish not just for himself but for Canada are Nelly McClung and Hazel Mccallion. Not all women are great at everything but all woman accomplish anything if they put their mind to it.
I think that The depiction of important woman on Currensy does say something socially at large. I think it says that not just Canadian women but women all around the world should be treated equally to men because God made us equall in his own way. To conclude, I think that every woman and man is important in their own way and one day I can accomplish something just as amazing as the other important women in Canada.😍🇵🇪😃

                                                     FRIDAY,APRIL,22,2016

Throughout Canadian history there has been lots of important man on currency, to me having women on currency would make a great change. We remember all what the important men did like the Astronots, doctors, governments and lots more but if we took a minute to think how important women are we might realize how important they are for example, Harriet Tubbman was a slave she went on an under ground railroad in the year 2020. She an important Canadian will finally be on a $20 bill. I feel that it would be very important to have a Canadian women on currency for numerous reasons. For starters, we have ecnoliged all the men on currency we have had only one women on the coin and that is the queen of England and she is not from Canada. Yes I know the depiction of important women on currency says something it says "Gender Equility" i think having women on currency says this because, alot of men have been on money and not ecnoliging the fact that no Canadian women have been on money Is not good because we are just thinking about the men and not the women even though they have done so much for our society. Overall, I think it is so important to have Canadian women on currency because they do the same amount as men do.

               Thank You For Listening 😆🙃😘

Yes, I do think that important women should be represented on the bill because Canada has had many women that have done good for Canada throughout history. Also, important women on a Canadian bill will say something to society at large because this would be a great moment in history. Just listen to this "Today we celebrate the 20 years of a women, besides the Queen being on the Canadian bill." This would also be a huge achievement for women. Furthermore, this would say that women are important to Canada and this would say that Canada is not racist and Canada is a very diverse country(in races and in genders). I think it says this because there many racist countries that don't allow different races in there country and some countries don't allow a certain gender (women) to do very much in the country without being killed. In addition, having a woman on the Canadian bill would show that Canada is not a sexist country. To conclude, this is why a Canadian women should be on the bill and how it would benefit Canada's society.

By: Giselle

Men, men, men, it's always like this! They are allowed to go to school, they have the right to vote and they can show their face on our currency. But what about our women? I think it is vital to have a Canadian women represented on our currency-in fact ,I find it quite preposterous that a bill or coin hasn't depicted a women on it already (excluding the Queen who is part of the British Monarchy). Why am I bringing this up? Well, women are a large part of our society, history and who we are today. In addition, women have accomplished remarkable achievements throughout the decades and I think they definitely deserve recognition for it; don't you think so too? I mean, we use money in our daily lives, we buy stuff and earn money, so I firmly believe, that Canadian women should be able to earn a spot on our currency.

Furthermore, the depicton of important women on currency, says a lot about our society at large. What does it say? It says, that we are a gender equality nation and we don't have exceptions for women. For all these years, men only have had the opportunity to represent themselves on the Canadian currency. I'm sure currently, the world-especially archaeologists- thinks that we're gender specific and shows that we Canadians, think men are only capable of intelligent doings and women are incapable of success.

Lastly, I think the currency says this to society, given that a countless amount of women for instance, Laura Secord and Nellie McClung, have changed our society for the better; but what have they got in return? NOTHING! Take global issues, a topic we've talked about, we talk about other developing countries who face issues (i.e. poverty, gender inequality) but we aren't much better. We have never given a Canadian women, a chance to shine; and that is a huge deal. On the whole, as Canadians, we should make a change to the mistake we made in the first place- taking away the spotlight of these legendary women; and who knows, a ripple effect can start and gender inequality may no longer be existent, in developing and developed countries.

Men always get to do what they want, some women (young or old) never get a chance to go to school, get a job and some girls are forced to be married at such young ages. But this year the bank of Canada did something amazing. They announced that a Canadia woman other then the queen will be put on a bill, why is this a big deal? let me tell you why.

This is really amazing for Canada because rarely are women put on a bill or a coin other then the queen, this shows Canada is not a sexist or stereotypical place, this also take us one step further in progressing Canada forward (developing Canada more).

It is also great to have a women on the bill because there are countless amounts of women who have made Canada the way it is today (laws, economy and other things) and people like Nellie McClung, Laura Secord and Hariet Tubman have done extraordinary things to evolve Canada and it would be very nice to see one of these women on the new bill for the next generation.

Therefor this is why It is amazing that Canada decided to put a woman on a bill rather then putting another man on the bill.
