Our watershed model provides a hands-on, interactive demonstration of the sources and effects of runoff pollution. Students will learn about the watershed they live in and see how it connects...all the way to the ocean! By the end of this program, students will understand what a watershed i, how it functions and how they are part of it.

SCI.ESS2.C.m Water cycles among land, ocean, and atmosphere, and is propelled by sunlight and gravity. Density variations of sea water drive interconnected ocean currents. Water movement causes weathering and erosion, changing landscape features.

Incorporating a small scale watershed will help students connect what they’re learning to provide insight on how exactly watersheds work. Students tour the Wagon Shop, Blacksmith Shop, and Shoe Shop and learn about the role of apprentices (kids just like them) in historic trades. They’ll learn about the chemistry and physics of the trades and see first-hand the art and science of historic trades. 

SS.Econ2.c.3 Compare the skills and knowledge required to produce certain goods and services. Provide an example of the factors of production (i.e., land, labor, capital, entrepreneurship) for a given product.

I actually recall going on a field trip like this and seeing as how I remember this, I can say that it was extremely beneficial!
