Firstly, the sales team will go out and get information regarding things such as the appropriate price to charge etc. and discuss with the client what type of ad they want before collecting research. Secondly, the creative writer and copy writer create a script for the advert. They will also decide who to hire to do the voice over at this point. The copy writer will then copy the script so that no one else can claim it. Next, the script is sent to the client so that they can assess it and suggest changes they want made to it. Once they are completely happy with it, the next stage commences. The script is sent to the voice over artist who may come to the production facility to record it but if they are not in the vicinity then a ISDN Line is used t record it. At this time, if a sessional vocalist is being used, they do this same process. After this is complete, the creative producer put together the advert based on the brief given from the client and the recording of the voice over(s). Then, the advert gets sent to the client so they can give the final green light and sign off. Finally, the advert is scheduled to through the trafficking department, meaning they will have to wait in a queuefor it to first be aired.

A production house is where the scripting and production for a national campaign takes place. Examples of production houses are: Clocktower creative, Radio Works and Radio Air Time Media. They make the radio adverts for big companies but can also make it into a full campaign - making TV and magazine adverts too. This is what makes them more expensive than radio stations. The facilities in a production house include: ISDN line, sound booth, Adobe Audition editing software, microphone, processor and a broadcasting desk. They allow the advert to be of a very high standard as the ISDN line and sound booth allow it to sound very clear with no background noise, the editing software allows you to change any tones and pitches etc. The professional microphone transmits the audio as clear as possible and the processor immediately compresses the file without you having to adjust anything. The broadcasting desk saves you from having to rely on editing software for everything as you can create effects on the recording as it is being recorded.

A sound library is a collection of sounds stored on a file such as CD's or digital audio files. They offer sound effects and music - stings and beds etc. in the form of door bells, traffic, crowd cheering etc. A sound library gives you the chance to buy sound effects and music but prices can differ. One of the most popular, reasonably priced sound libraries offers a package of 720 (15GB) different bass sounds for $149.

One example of a job is a radio copywriter. They writes scripts for radio ads. A radio copywriter has to have an in depth understanding of how people react to radio programming. They must be able to recognise what makes an attention-grabbing radio advertisement. Most radio copywriters are freelancers. They usually have previous experience within radio production, also they have to be able to be both a writer and producer, overseeing voice talent, studio production, and distribution of radio ads.
Another example of a job is a sound engineer. This person records, mixes and reproduces sound. They use different fields such as fields such as electronics, acoustics, and music. The engineer takes all the individual recorded tracks from a session he has just worked and combine them to create one finalised product.
Another example of a job is a radio producer. They are responsible for the audio content of broadcasts across radio, the internet and other mobile platforms. They are involved in the whole process, from coming up with ideas to managing the audience response. A producer works with and manages broadcasting assistants, presenters and DJs, engineers and IT staff. There are 3 different sections a producer can work in: publicly funded, voluntary and commercial. They make sure that shows run as planned and that they are tailored to key audience demographics.
One example of a job is a sound technician. They assemble, operate and maintain any of the technical equipment that is used to record, amplify, enhance, mix or reproduce sound. They find appropriate sound requirements for certain situations and perform the appropriate actions to produce this sound. Most sound technicians are freelancers and are working across different sectors of the sound industry.
