I went to the play with Averi and Kendall Thursday night. I wasn't sure what to expect, I had never been to a play through the school before, only the arts center. However it was good and I was impressed. I could tell everyone on stage seemed to be enjoying themselves and having fun and I had fun watching it. I liked how they still went along with the original High School Musical story but also put their own spin on it. I thought all the actors did great and that they did a good job singing and stuff. I thought it was funny and I'm glad I went. High School Musical is one of my favorite childhood movies and they did a good job recreating it.

The play was surprisingly really good. I was expecting it to be pretty lame and downplay high school musical, but it was the total opposite. They all did a pretty good job portraying their parts. I love the girl who played Sharpay and Ms. Darbus. They were super dramatic and funny it was cool. I constantly found myself laughing and clapping. I’m glad they chose a play that people could understand and relate to. What really surprised me was how saucy the play was their were a lot of “blushy” type moments I guess you could say. I wasn’t expecting Troy and Gabriella to kiss that had me shook. Overall I’d give it like an eight out of ten. The only downfalls were that sometimes you couldn’t hear people singing and talking, but that isn’t their faults. I would definitely go see it again and pay another five bucks. Was worth the time and money and the extra credit. I can honestly say Maddie and I had a great time. Maddie was part of the reason why I had so much fun, but I would have enjoyed the performance either way. Seeing Grayson ask his girlfriend to prom was also a plus.

This past weekend, I took part in our theater department’s showing of “High School Musical on Stage.” I played the role of Taylor Mckessie, Gabriella’s best friend. This was not a huge role, but I was still super excited to play her. From on stage, I’m sure I felt a different reaction to the show than the audience did, so my review may be a little off. The first show was definitely WAY better than our dress rehearsal the day before, but also definitely not one of the best that we have done at south, never the less, the cast was pretty excited once it was over and had felt accomplished. Now on the second night, Thursday, it was amazing. I have never seen a crowd like that here at South and I have been in almost every show here. They were dancing in the crowd with us and cheering, always giving a HUGE applause after every song. It was amazing. We had over 154 students, that’s not even counting parents. Now on Friday the crowd was even bigger. I believe we had over $3,000 in sales. So I would say that we probably had a pretty good show. From an on stage perspective though, there were definitely mess ups and things that went wrong. I know personally it was not one of my best shows. Saturday’s crowd kind of reassured that. It. was. Dead. there was 0 energy out there. We totally rocked it though, It was SO much fun and I'm SO proud of my cast.

Although I appreciate how hard the cast worked I feel the play was a very unoriginal choice and a more interesting play could have been chosen. That being said, I thought the girl that played Gabriella did a wonderful job and had a very good voice. Unfortunately the sound system in the auditorium is very outdated and sometimes the audience couldn't hear the actors lines. The play also had some pretty funny parts such as the audition scene. Overall, I believe the casts talents weren't on full display because of the play choice but still preformed the best they could.

This play was very stressful to me but having done the play was and always has been an amazing experience. I love getting to work with actors and Saturday set builds are always amazing even if so early in the morning and we are throwing paint and plywood trying to get stuff finished. It is all worth it because to be able to look at a such an amazing set and know, we built that, we moved that, our actor performed on that, is such an amazing accomplishment to be able to be a part of. I have an extreme bias being apart of the show, especially being a manger and knowing all the secrets behind the show, but I feel that this was a pretty great performance put on by the theater department. It was the largest turn out of audience members we ever reached, only being 50 seats away from sold out on Friday night. The acting and casting was perfect, again bias, and the set is gorgeous. This show is welly executed and has a very fun plot line as well.

idk why the pic is upside down. but i actually really liked the musical, i truthfully did not think i would like it but it was really good. i thought it was funny to see jeremiah act and actually do pretty well, it was really weird. going with thalia too was really funny, we were just joking around the whole time and it was so much fun!! i didnt know that a lot of people in our school could sing, it was really shocking

I really enjoyed the play. The singing was surprisingly good and the acting was funny and the crowd was really engaged. Morgan Labaue and Zach Fisher were the best part of the play because they just had really nice chemistry on stage, and honestly, Zach is a real life Ryan Evans. It made me kind of sad that I haven't gone to any other plays at south because this was really a lot of fun. Also, it was cool to see Jeremiah on stage, he surprised me with how well he did.

I thought the play was well performed overall. Nothing really stood out to me as a blatant mistake or mess up while on stage. It was an interesting choice for a school show though. I personally enjoyed it more than I thought I would considering I have seen the movie it is based off of and did not enjoy that. Zac Fisher stood out as the most enjoyable performance to me followed by the greatest basketball coach to ever live Trevor Underwood. The show was enjoyable and crowd seemed to be into it throughout the play.
