Throughout the movie, wall-e is unable to conform to earth destruction displayed by the other robots.
Self-Reliance (Emerson)

“There is a time in every man’s education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide; that he must take himself for better, for worse…”

In the movie UP, the main character Carl’s wife passes away, and he doesn’t know what to do with his life after. This causes him to remember a pact he had with his wife and he takes into his own liberty to “move” his house to Paradise Falls. This relates to this quote from Emerson because once Ellie dies, Carl has to take matters into his own hands to re-find himself and “envying” what he had before was worth nothing, and intimidating something that he was not feeling was useless.

“In the woods is perpetual youth. Within these plantations of God, a decorum and sanctity reign…”

The movie Pocahontas represents Transcendentalism with the Importance of Nature. Throughout the movie, nature is aiding Pocahontas through her journey. There is a character that stands in for a mother figure in her life that is a tree, who helps her find herself and John Smith. This quote relates to the movie because when it speaks about the woods being youthful and where sanctity reigns, this relates to the images in Pocahontas of god being portrayed through the earth, wind, and rivers.

He acts simply on a gut-feeling rather than reasoning/thinking out how to handle the situation.
