People with this disorder physically develop at a slower rate. Individuals with mental retardation learn at a slower rate, can't remember things well, and have poor communication skills. The levels are mild retardation: IQ level of 50-55 to 70, moderate retardation: IQ levels of 35-40 to 50-55, severe retardation: IQ levels of 20-25 to 35-40, and profound retardation: IQ levels below 20- 25. Lennie likes mice, rabbits, and puppies because he likes to pet soft things. Lennie and George share the dream of having a better life. George always complains about having to put up with Lennie and all he wants is to own his own land and be free to do whatever he wants. Lennie wants a better life because he tries to do the right things and he wants to live with George on their own land. George takes cares of Lennie because he promised Lennie's Aunt Clara that he would take care of Lennie.
