Between 2005 and 2016, India got more than double the amount of greenfield FDI from the Commonwealth than any other country. Bangladesh, Singapore, Nigeria, and Sri Lanka surpassed Canada, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Tanzania as the other leading destinations for Commonwealth FDI in 2016, while Canada, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Tanzania lost ground. Not only from the Commonwealth but also from throughout the world, India is the #1 country for attracting greenfield FDI. For the first time in 2015, it surpassed China as the leading greenfield FDI destination.
While greenfield FDI helps economies expand and thrive, high-growth economies attract more investments, creating a virtuous cycle of growth and investment.
