My answer really depends on the place he went, if he said if was really hot and exhausting to go there but the trading made up for it. I probably wouldn't go, but if he had cool and interesting stories that sound fun, I probably would want to come.

It would not due to the fact that the explorers were trading with the people of that region. This would mean that I get all the benefits without the grueling travel.
