This book is about a police officer who has a bunch of safety rules that he presents to the school. Everyone finds it boring. Officer Buckle gets a police dog and takes him to his safety meeting. The dog starts doing tricks and acts according to what Officer Buckle is saying. This seems to interest the crowd and Officer Buckle gets popular for it. He has little to know that the dog does tricks behind his back, and when he finds out Officer Buckle is mad. He's mad that people only pay attention to Gloria. Gloria goes back to the school for a safety meeting but Officer Buckle doesn't go with him. Since Gloria can't speak she couldn't do any tricks without Officer Buckle. When Officer Buckle finds out about this he realizes that it takes a team.

This is a great book that needs to be used in the classroom because it uses wonderful communication skills. It shows leadership and pride. The illustrations in this book are understanding and creative. The book is overall wonderful it really teaches children the value of teamwork and forgiveness.

Peggy Rathmann, Peggy.

"Officer Buckle and Gloria."

This book is about a dog that little girls loved. They loved the dog so much and they lived in a small house in Pairs. Their house was old and was coverd with vines. In that house there were twelve little girls who all stayed in the house. One day there was a little girl playing and fell off the brige and into the water. They had thought she died. They were hoping that poor Madeline was not dead. A dog pulled her up out the water. The girls loved the dog so much that they took it home, they would cry, and fight over who the dog slept with it at night time. The dog loved doing tricks and eating biscuites until the president came into the school and told them no dog wer allowed and the kicked the dog out hours later. They were looking and could not fine her. She came back and the girls where still fighing over who she slept with. Later that night she gave brith to puppies.

I would use this book in my classroom because of how the book is made and the language in the book. They could have kids ask about the book, how the book is instresting for the kids, and how this book made them feel on what the book is, and how would this make the kid behave after they hear about the book.

Ludwig Bemelmans, Ludwig.
