Katniss comes home from the games to find president Snow waiting for her at home. He threatens Katniss to act in front of the cameras or he will kill gale her best friend. Katniss and peta get ready for the 75th anniversary of the games. They both continue a tour throughout the districts, they both pay respects to Rue in district eleven. They continue their tour to the Capitol. Peta proposes on live television to sway their audience.

Katniss Everdeen Is the protagonist in the book. She is a brave and a strong character.

Peeta Mellark is Katniss’s husband. He is a kind character who doesn’t perform any violent acts.

Haymitch Abernathy Is a drunk. But he also knows how to get things done. He helps Katniss and peta with the games.

Effie Trinket is a high spirit character. She also helps Katniss and peta throughout the games.

Gale Hawthrone Is katniss’s closest friend. They grew up together and secretly fell in love.

President Snow is the president of Panem. He is the antagonist who is cruel and vindictive.

Prim Everdeen is katniss’s little sister, she is kind and gentle.

Rue is a young girl from district eleven. She passed away in the first book. Katniss and Peta are invited to a big dinner party that the President is throwing. Katniss slowly starts to realize that a lot of people have her signature “mocking jay” contributed to their outfits or style. When they come home from their tour Katniss and gale meet up secretly in the woods, they planned to run away. After they come back Gale gets punished for the turkey he hunted and almost gets beaten to death. Katniss stands up for him, he makes a slow recovery. There have been uprisings in the districts, so the peacekeepers are becoming viler. She meets Bonnie and Twill and learns about district thirteen.

He was trying to collect food for his family.

Katniss and Peta get elected to be in the Hunger Games the second time. This was a rule the capital made to prove their hierarchy. They both go over strategies to win the game. Katniss and her prep team get ready for the opening ceremony. She meets the other tributes there.

Mags is a kind 80-year-old woman. She volunteered for the games when a young girl was picked to be the tribute. 

Johanna Mason is a very open character, she has a strong personality. She sees to be getting on Katniss’s bad side. She is a tribute from district 7. 
 
Beetee is a tribute from District 3. He is very smart and good with engineering. 
 
Wiress is the female tribute from District 3. She is also very smart. She is an introvert, which aids her in the future. 
 
Chaff is the tribute from District 11. He is an open character who is a good friend of Haymitch. 
 
Seeder is the female tribute from District 11. She and Katniss become friends quickly. 
 
Brutus is the male tribute of District 2. This character doesn’t seem to be interested in anything. 
 
Enobaria is the female tribute of District 2. She isn’t a big character. 
 
Madge Undersee is the daughter of the district 12 Mayor. She and Katniss become close friends.
 
Flavius, Octavia, and Venia are all apart of Katniss’s prep team. They help get her ready before anything that involves hair, makeup, or clothes.

Katniss has her first day of training. She then starts to scout who she wants to team up with. Katniss then is put in a wedding dress for her interview with Cesar. It is cloaked to burn and turn into a mocking jay dress. Katniss and Peta are then split to be put in the arena. As katniss is in the tube to be sent into the arena Cinna gets beaten by peacekeepers. She had no choice but to watch. Katniss and Peta end up teaming up with tributes. The main themes of my novel would be survival and loyalty. The author illustrates survival throughout the entire book. People in the districts are constantly fighting for survival. Katniss is very loyal to her family, friends, and district. The author illustrates loyalty through her. James Dashner the author of The Maze Runner also has the theme of survival and loyalty.

Katniss and the other tributes are in the arena. She ends up finding out the Peta and Haymitch have picked out tribute to be on their team they gave them gold pieces, so she knows she can trust them. The arena then starts to have crazy toxic storms. Wiress and Beetees figure out the arena is a clock. They all worked together to piece out that each hour something will happen. They lost tributes along the way in the storms. Katniss's team breaks the force field and most of them get injured badly. They get rescued by these planes and katniss wakes up in a room confused. I personally think the novel is interesting. The author used a bunch of plot twists. The author surprised me each time I read a chapter. The novel ending surprised me in the end I thought she was going to die or peta was going to die. I definitely recommend this novel to others.
