  • Fill water basin with water.​
  • Place 6 wooden splints into the water. (Submerge them to make sure they are soaked)​
  • Light the bunsen burner and set it to the blue flame.
  • Using one of the soaked wooden splints insert one end of the splint into the Lithium Chloride. (Some of the Lithium Chloride will stick to the soaked wooden splint).​
  • Enter and hold the Lithium Chloride in the blue flame.
  • Note the colour that the burning salt gives off.
  • Repeat this procedure for the 5 remaining salts and ensure to use a fresh wooden splint each time.​
