When I read the book, I was moved by the work of all the women within the WTC in general, but in particular by the work done by Rosalind, who was able to do her job as if she was a man. She told us in the book "What did you do in the war, mum?" that she used to attach chains from the fallen logs to the horses without getting entangled. And she said : " I was a bit small and was quick and agile, so I was god (sic) at it".

In this topic, women show that they can become as valid as men, but in fact, our society has serious difficulties in recognizing this.

Ángeles R.

It was pleasant to read the story of Prim, as through her words I could feel that she was proud and satisfied for the work that she did as a part of the Timber Corps. It was also outstanding that the situation for women during the WWII made them brave and aware of their worth. For instance, when Prim went back to her job she was able to ask for an increase in her salary, something that she would not have done before her experience in the Timber Corps.

Undoubtedly, if I had to choose one of the trades of these women in times of war, I would have preferred to be a 'Lumber Jill'. And I'm not saying that their work was more comfortable or easier and less hard, but I like the idea of holding an ax and living near the forest areas.
I'm glad they brought something good out of something like a war: women became more independent and stronger by tearing down cultural conventions.
