Take Me Out To The Ballgame 1908 By: Jack Norworth & Albert Von Tilzer

Take Me Out to the Ballgame is about a certain sport in the United States of America. The song is about baseball and what it is like to be at a game. The story behind this could be a son or kid, or anyone asking someone to take them to the ballgame. The lyrics behind the song just talk about what you do at the game. For example, getting cracker jacks, and describes how you're out, and also rooting for the home team. Some events that were going on in the world of baseball during this time would be that:
- American League was created
-Alta Weiss becomes the first woman to play professional baseball
- Ty Cobb (Professional baseball player) stabs an African American hotel watchman

The Star Spangled Banner is about America in general and about its flag. I believe that the story behind the Star Spangled Banner is that it's about the American flag and how it came around to America. I also believe that the Star Spangled Banner is about how America finally became free because in the song it describes how America has become free in the lyrics as it says "The land of the free, and home of the brave." The story behind it also its about how America came around because it's America's national anthem.
Some events that were going on in the United States that reflect how America has finally became free and just the United States as a whole would be:
-Mexican Revolution
-United States army first aircraft carry out reconnaissance over Mexico.
-United States takes control of Santo Domingo.

I wanna be loved by you is a song about how the writer (or pretty much anyone who is in her shoes..) loves a specific boy/man in their life, and she only wants that one man, and no one else. Helen makes it clear that she only wants one man, and wants the man to love her back. She doesn't want to love anyone else, besides him. But it seems like the man doesn't love her back, and is just forced to be with her.
Some things that have impact on this song during the 1920's would be:
-Women mostly stay at home to be a housewife and take care of kids.
-Needed to Listen / Take slack from their husbands
-Marriage started to become less and less popular throughout the 1920's because of the Great Depression

Reflection

Throughout researching, and picking the songs throughout the decades for this mini project, I noticed that the stories seem to change topics / themes throughout the different years. The songs seem to tell stories about either love, heartbreak, or just about something happy. The songs are different because they each have different topics, and different messages behind them that the listener can interpret. The earlier decades seem to focus on topics, and stories that just sprouted up in America's history, and as the decades get later they start to focus more on society issues / topics that are going on in today's society. I believe the central theme for all of these songs in general is coming of age. I believe that coming of age revolves around all of these songs because the songs that are written and performed are perfect fit for the decade / age it was created in, because it focuses on whatever is going on during that time.
