This has been shown in the text when it states "Tom is dead he was caught trying to climb over the wall and was shot 17 times"(Lee 323). This shows that this was a senseless murder, because it only takes one bullet to kill a man, but they shot him with 17 bullets, as well as the fact that he was a cripple.

Tom's death is a "senseless slaughter" because he was an innocent man and didn't deserve what happened to him. Mr. Underwood compares his death to "the senseless slaughter of songbirds by hunters and children"(Lee 323). Mr. Underwood compares Tom to songbirds because songbirds just sing their music and don't disturb anyone. Tom Robinson was innocent and didn't try to disturb anyone as well, yet he was still shot seventeen times for escaping from a crime he never committed.

In the story, "To Kill a Mockingbird", by Harper Lee, Tom Robinson's death is considered a "senseless slaughter" because he was an innocent man. Tom died because of the people's ignorance and injusticeness. The text states, "Tom is dead. He was caught trying to climb over the wall and was shot 17 times"(Lee 323). This quote explains how far the people took it to kill Tom, and how they did it for their own pleasure. This was wrong because Tom never did anything wrong, and shouldn't have been treated this way. Tom is being compared to a mockingbird, because all he does is sing and make beautiful music, yet people still hunt him down and accuse him for wrong doings because he is a black man. In conclusion, Tom's death was called a "senseless slaughter" because he truly was an innocent man.

Toms death was a "slaughter" a innocent man convicted. Even though he was the only nice person to the woman just cause he was black he was convicted of 🤬 witch eventually lead up to his death or getting shot 17 times. “Tom Robinson was probably the only person who was ever decent to her. But she said that he took advantage of her, and when she stood up she looked at him as though he were dirt beneath her feet .” (Lee 257).
