Stage one: Ordinary World

Mulan is a princess from China. In her society women are to see a matchmaker to find their husband. The matchmaker states that although she looks like a bride shes not fit to be a wife. Mulan is then disappointed that she cannot bring honor to her family.

Stage two: Call to Adventure

China is going to war with The Huns and since Mulan's family has no sons her father is being taken to go to war. Mulan knows that her father is old and sick. She knows that if he goes he woudn't make it. She decides to dress as a man and go in his place as his "son"

Stage three: Refusal of the Call

Before going to war in her fathers place Mulan begs her father to stay. She is scared he is going to die since he is so weak now. She says that he has already served his country. She knows she shouldn't go in his place as it would bring dishonor to her family but she has to in order to save her father.

Stage five: Crossing the Threshold

Mulan arrives to the training camp with a variety of other new soldiers. She is much weaker than the other soldiers, being a woman. She is extremely inexperienced and bad at the simple skills of a soldier. Captain Lee Shang initially sees her as weak and inferior.

Stage four: Meeting the Mentor

Before going to training camp Mulan is introduced to her mentor, Mushu. Mushu is a scrony dragon who used to be a guiding spirit of her family. He is the only one who knows her secret and can help her through it. Mushu is Mulan's guiding mentor through her entire journey.

Stage six: Allies, Trials, and Enemies

Mulan goes through many trials in her journey the biggest being her being a woman and having to not only hide that she is a woman from her peers but to also try to train like a man. Some of Mulans allies through her journey include Mushu, Ling, Chien-Po, and Yoa. Her enemies are the Huns.

Stage seven: Approach to the Inmost Cave

Mulan and her recruits are on their way to war. As a young soldier, she has yet to experience the reality of war. This is why it is difficult for her to come to a battle-ravaged village. Here, she finds the remains of the general's army and proof of the Huns' presence in the village.

Stage eight: The Supreme Ordeal

Mulan must battle the Hun leader and China's sworn enemy, Shan Yu. Mulan leads Shan Yu to the rooftop. She then uses Mushu to blow him up with fireworks. After defeating Shan Yu, the Emperor bows to Mulan and all of China.

Stage nine: Reward

For saving China from the Hun invasion, Mulan is praised by the Emperor. She is also given Shan Yu's sword. Then, she is given Emperor's crest. Lastly she gets the honor for her family that she always wanted.

Stage ten: Return with Prize

Mulan returned home with the sword and medallion. Her family is so happy and excited. They embrace and hold each other. Her father makes it clear that having Mulan as his daughter is the best honor
