- if you're taking 15 credits, and have an EFC of 0, FAFSA will only help you cover for 15 credits. Therefore, if you join the band and are taking 16 credits, you have to pay the $500 in tuition out of pocket in September. This threw me for a loop as a freshman and had I not worked all summer pramptively, I would not have been able to afford to be in the band.
