In past work, I focus more on realism over abstraction however, I would like to add a little bit more to my work this semester. I plan on some of the pieces having more surreal qualities than others but I still want to keep it cohesive. In 10 years, hopefully establish a solid career foundation to start a business that revolves around my work. In my experience, I know art can be time consuming so I’d want a work/life balance that isn’t too overwhelming. In terms of how my work would be shown, I can see it being displayed on clothing (graphic hoodie/shirt) or even just hanging in someone’s house. If there were any artists who’s career I’d like to emulate it would be either Kehinde Wiley or Chuck Close, though I’m leaning more to Wiley’s side because I find his work more personal to me. Close’s work however, stands out to me because it’s done so well on a large scale.
