Juliet's decision to finally drink the poem creates a lethargic atmosphere. This is presented when the narrator states that -she falls upon her bed- this connotates that Juliet is unfortunately falling into her death bed because the scene triggers the ironic part of Romeo and Juliets fate. The verb fall can be used in many contexts such as 'falling in love' or 'falling to death' which relates to the shift in atmosphere that occurs around half way through the play.

She is portrayed as a young woman with true convictions in that she stands by her decision to marry Romeo. In the turning point of the play we see how Romeo has murdered Juliets cousin and she still stands by hi
