The novel starts with a group of boys that get stranded on a island because the plane that they were in crashed. The boys on the Island soon elect a leader and order is formed. The leaders name is Ralph, who got elected because he had a conch and used it to call all the other kids on the island, Ralph show that he is a good leader as take’s other kids suggestions and not all his own on what to make the rules. On the other hand Ralph’s opposing force on power is Jack, When Jack is introduced in the story, he is leading a choir of kids in which one of the boys in his choir faints and he doesn’t care. This already shows that Jack is a bad leader on the surface  and his true power hasn’t shown. later on in the story Ralph and Jack keep on having fights which makes Jack leave to make his own group, eventually every body except for a few kids leave Ralphs group to join Jacks group. Soon Jack and the rest of the kids show there true selfs and turn to savages and turn very aggressive. Jacks group spends most of their time hunting pigs and whenever they kill one they get wild and start chanting. Jack soon becomes consumed in power that he and his group end up lighting the whole island on fire so that the could go and kill Ralph. This shows that the kids true power was not shown on the surface but deep inside them selves.
