It’s always exactly the same. Every single day. It’s so mundane to the point that I completely lose track of time and everyday seems to blend together into one big random mess of combined memories. All I know is that everyday I wake up, take a quick shower and eat my breakfast while watching an episode on Netflix, knowing It’s the last drop of happiness I’ll experience before heading off to the place where everyone is expected to be the same, look the same, wear the same things and undergo the same immense spine-crushing stress for the next eight hours. Surrounded by screaming, brainless bags of flesh sat in rows of desks and a boring figure in front of the room repeating the same concepts day after day. Coming home is not so much better either, because I’m too exhausted to do anything yet I continue to cram information in my brain, knowing it will be gone in a few hours. Then the next, same day happens again. The reason I described an entire day rather than one specific event is because everyday is one extremely mundane event. It is rare that anything exciting ever happens at all.

200 words.

Extremely exhausted, I was. Monday was never a good day, because I am always drowsy and sleepy. Birds outside my room were chirping with a ring which was different from other days. My mind was filled with curiosity - why were the birds chirping differently? Different types of breed? Or are they also having an unpleasant start of the day? Light headed, but I could still hear my mother’s voice screaming my name from a floor beneath. I refused to take the first step out of my bed until I could hear footsteps climbing up the staircase. Cleansed my face, brushed my teeth and change up the KFC worker looking uniform i have for school. I amble my way down the staircase slowly, totally not ready to start the day off.

Birds chipping is all I heard in the morning. Tired, with eyes half closed, I pulled myself out of my comfortable king-size bed. Sitting on my toilet bowl, I dreamed about being in bed for another 5 minute but I knew it wouldn't happen. With toothpaste all over my mouth and some parts on my face, I grabbed my KFC looking school uniform to wear. Bored, I reached for the soy sauce to put it on my perfectly cooked crispy golden coloured chicken nugget. I've thought about spicing things up and trying chilli for the first time, but I knew I'll be meeting the toilet bowl for the second time which I will try to avoid at all costs. Taking a deep breath, I was ready to start my day off. But in the corner of my eyes, I saw a buffed up figure and guessed it straight away, It was the famous bully. Who doesn't like to get bullied am I right? I've thought about going home straight away after seeing the bully. Courageously, I took on the challenge and continued with my boring secondary student school life.

Waking up-mentally excruciating. Getting out of bed-physically demanding. Parallel red lines running up my limbs from the immense weight upon it. Sweet sounding slumber of eternal paralysis. Unable to wake up, I feel really guilty. An addictive device of popping notification awaits me across the bed. Do I want to take it? Am I really going to sacrifice this cloud of fluff? Seriously? Despite the wild conclusion that intertwine around my ¨dreamy morning" mind of shallow desires and motivation, somehow the phone appears right in front me. If only it were telekinesis, I should probably stop being so high every morning. Damned by the day, I ´seize¨ the day. At least that is how society wants me to be. Seizing the day. gugu.

Mundane-, my life is Its synonym. Grand and spectacular, is what it's supposed to be. Wake up, shower, eat, school ,home, shower and sleep. What's the difference between us and a piece of code running on a loop? Confusing as they are, humans are even more complicated. Social etiquettes, keeping people's emotions in line, saying or doing something can be seen as offensive. It's like no one sees the bigger picture. Repetition can be seen as a luxury; being able to predict what's going to happen is a luxury. People, whose life is unprecedented, and filled with mystery are normally the less fortunate. Being homeless? Why not.

Curtains drawn, but still the early sun was already well risen and shone into the room, followed by the annoying sound from the alarm, I barely opened my eyes. I was struggling on my bed, life is not exciting with this repetitive routine. I glanced at the clock, it was 7:00 in the morning. I tried to rub the sleep out of my eyes but my eyelids kept closing like magnets, dragging my body to the washroom and get myself ready for a new day. After a while, again I dragged myself downstairs like a zombie. Looking at the breakfast with a cup of coffee in my hand, I feel bored with it. Sausages, bacon, not the worst, but pretty bad, as long as I went through with the breakfast, I am ready to start with a new boring day.

Long hair. Often wearing spectacles, she was gorgeous. However, the new rule that had to be followed got the better of my boring life. Even before this ‘rule’, I rarely saw her in school. We see each other, we wave to each other and that was it. Walking into school, visualising the possible scenarios of us walking together but in reality, it was waving and walking away awkwardly. Everyday, with no guts to start a conversation, I would go back home after school, thinking what I could have done or said to her. The next day, Waking up to my alarm at 6:30am, brushing my teeth as clean as possible, setting my hair, and wearing a uniform neatly. Trying to impress her it was. Though this feeling will never reach her, ever, I still go on with my repetitive life.

Felt like a second, the same sound rings again telling me it's time. Standing on my two feet, unwillingly, I took a few steps to my desk and flipped the laptop open. It chimes. I look at the time thinking ‘I’m late. Again.’ I tapped a few times, hearing a familiar voice coming out of the speakers. It’s another day of zoom academy.

I squeezed my eyes, trying my best to improve the view to 1080p quality. Everyday schedule tab on the screen was reminding me of my schedule for the day. Clank from the kitchen, voice from bedroom and the splash from the bathroom. All of them felt bored about each of those actions already. Odour of breakfast collided with the particles in the air and passed through my nose. I am so touched by the smell which made my tears start to leak out from my mouth. Stepped out from my bedroom and walked down the stairs. My stomach was ready to be filled with the breakfast which was ready for me to eat. Everyday start off with the same scene again.

Mustering the will and steeling my resolve. I scan through the extract. Immediately, my sight is diverted to an image to the top left of the page.

The pencil felt heavy as I gripped it. Paint started to peel off, revealing the bare wood beneath- it was rough to touch. I had hoped that the pencil will guide itself on the plain, white piece of paper; overtime, I’d hope again for words to slither out of it, like a snake meandering between the lines of the paper. But, it always disappointed me. The silence registered in my mind, everything was empty. My mind is silent. Compelling me to write on it, the paper stared at me blankly as the clock hung on the wall ticked on, agitated by my incompetence. My hand started creating undulating movements, a tail of black and white dawdled behind it. Then, I felt it. A pang of guilt in my chest. All I was doing was but scarring the untainted piece of paper. A work of tarnished art.
