Because they require students to THINK about information and then draw conclusions, students develop critical thinking skills while being actively engaged (as opposed to just listening or reading) in lecture, video, or text. REQUIRE notes from your students and make them a part of your classroom culture. Also, consider having them do their notes on paper!
