A degree in Agriculture from the university of Nottingham can lead to many opportunities within the sector. There are many possible career paths from consultancy to management to agronomy to research or even to politics. One specific example would be, a career in consultancy whether that be, agronomy, livestock or nutrition as all of these careers usually require an Agricultural degree. One employer currently advertising is Shire Consulting. They are looking for a person with a degree in agriculture to join them and train in technical sales specially within the dairy industry. This particular job would teach you further nutritional skills and allow you to work with farmers and give them advice and support. A degree in agriculture would prepare you for a job like this as not only does it give you a very good overview of the sector but specific modules cover things like nutrition in much greater details. The degree also prepares you for a career through the skills it teaches you such as presentation skills and scientific writing skills.

An undergraduate degree in agriculture can lead to further study either a Masters or PhD. These are often within more specific areas of agriculture for example, livestock, crop science, marketing or management. Some employers require a more research approach to your degree and require further study. One such employer would be NIAB. NIAB is a plant science organisation based at Cambridge university. They host postgraduates that want to do research in the field of crop science. More specifically in, agronomy, crop genetics and pathology.

A degree in Agriculture can lead to many opportunities as it is a science degree. One employer that runs a graduate program is Syngenta. They are a leading agriculture company that are based all over the world. They hold graduate programs for people with a Bachelor or higher qualification in science. One particular program would be in production and supply. This career would be easy to attain because of the preparation a bioscience degree would give you. This is because an agriculture degree at Nottingham is particularly scientific and many modules feature practical work in the laboratories.
