Dating is not about perfection, but about meeting the real

When you log into a dating app for the first time, you feel a little nervous. Everything seems new on https://www.sofiadate.com/dating-tips/dating-ideas: faces, profiles, dialogues, expectations. It’s as if you’re opening a door to an unfamiliar room, where there may be disappointments and amazing discoveries. But the main thing is that you’re taking a step towards someone. Or maybe towards yourself.

We come for attention. We stay for understanding

Most of us don’t just come to online dating to look for a relationship. We come for attention, for the feeling that we are seen, that someone is interested in us. Especially after a long period of loneliness or a painful breakup, this seems like salvation. Talking to someone, laughing, telling them what you had for breakfast today — that’s already important.

But everything becomes truly meaningful when understanding appears. When it becomes simple with someone — no need to prove, no need to show, no need to try. Just be.

Why is dating scary?

Because there is a lot of uncertainty. You can write to someone for a week, and then they disappear. You can go on a date, but in person — there is no “chemistry”. Or vice versa — everything is too fast, and you do not have time to understand whether you are ready.

Online dating requires maturity. You need to be able to accept “no” without offense. You need to learn not to devalue yourself after an unsuccessful date. You need to be ready to open up, but with caution.

And this is not easy. Especially if you hope. Especially if you believe that a real meeting is possible.

A few things that I realized myself

– You don’t have to answer everyone. Respect is important. But your comfort comes first.

– One sincere dialogue is better than ten empty correspondences.

– Don’t be afraid to show your feelings. A smile, interest, excitement — this is not weakness, this is life.

- Don't judge a person by the first phrase. Sometimes a banal "How are you?" hides a deep and kind person.

- Don't play roles. In dating, it's not "smart phrases" that win, but honesty.

And love?

Love happens. And in dating — too. Sometimes not from the first "swipe", not from the first meeting. Sometimes after a series of boring dialogues, through fatigue, through "I'm tired, I don't want to meet anymore".

But one day you will open a chat and read something simple. And you will feel — this is it.

This can be the beginning of a story. A real one. Without filters and expectations. With mornings, laughter, conversations in the kitchen. A story that would not have happened if you had not once decided to click "like".
