Title: The Fault in Our Stars

Author: John Green

Mood: The mood changes in the story but one mood is depressing/sad. An example of this is, “Caroline was always moody and miserable, but I liked it. I liked feeling as if she had chosen me as the only person in the world not to hate, and so we spent all this time together just ragging on everyone, you know?”

Tone: The tone of the book is negative and pessimistic. An example from the text that shows tone is, "There will come a time when there are no human beings remaining to remember that anyone ever existed or that our species did anything. There will be no one left to remember Aristotle or Cleopatra, let alone you."

I think this because these boys if they do something bad they get "stung". Example "A twisted, pale figure writhing in agony," Another example is "Just try and avoid being killed, survive, whatever."

Tone: The tone of "The Maze Runner" is very serious. I know this because it talks about how scary this mysterious place is and the author describes some of the stuff with so much detail that you can see all the messed up things.

An example would be some of the comics the main character, Nate Write makes some of them are about his horrible teachers and some are about made up characters

Tone: The book follows the main character, Nate Write in a first person point of view so the tone is based off of how the character feels so the author can feel happy about something and then sad about another thing a example would be when Nate goes to detention at that point the author might be in a bad mood or angry

Title: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Author: J.K. Rowling

Mood: The mood steadily stays intense in the story due to the fact that Harry is Trying to get past 6th year, fight Voldemort, and have a love life. An example of this is, "I am weak..." He said. "Don't worry sir" said Harry at once, anxious about Dumbledore."

Tone: The tone of "the Half-Blood Prince" is very urgent. I know this because, Harry haves to drink a lucky potion that haves a time limit on it for the missing fragment of Slughorn's memory. "The Felix of Felices is running out" said Harry. "it only haves 3 minutes left".

Title: The Elite: The selection series

Author: Kiera Cass

Mood: The mood in my book changes from time to time but one of the moods in the book is excited/overwhelmed. Example: “I was overwhelmed. He understood me so well, how nervous I was about making this commitment, how frightening it was for me to become a princess. He was going to give me every last second he could and, in the meantime, lavish me with everything possible. I had another one of those moments where I couldn't believe this was all happening." It makes me want to read more of the book because it is making me feel excited and happy in the current moment of the story.

Tone: The tone is a mix of excitement and joy. The tone does change sometimes though, this is one of the examples. Example: “I Twisted so I could hug him better. I didn’t know until this very moment how badly I needed to see them.” The author uses certain words and they convey different feelings in their writing. It shows the excitement and joy she feels in that moment.

Title: Frank Einstein and the Bio-Action Gizmo

Author: Jon Scieszka

Mood: The mood of the book is very non serious and funny but it also has some deeper meanings. An example of this is when the two robots named Klink and Klank along with Frank Einstein are walking through a nature preserve and they see people cutting down trees and excavating land, but in that seen a plastic bag gets stuck in one of the robots and he short circuits but while he is shutting down he is making a lot of funny noises and saying a lot of things that don't make sense.

Tone: The authors tone is trying to convey a message through very funny things such as repetition in the workers speaking accept they change what they are speaking about such as "what's the big rush?" "I don't know. But the big boss says we have one more week to cut as much as we can." "That's crazy." and then in another seen "What's the big hurry?" "I don't know. But the bug boss says we got a week to strip as much coal as we can." "That's nuts." These examples of repetition can show people in a very simple way how humans are messing up the Earth.

Title: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Author: J.K Rowling
The mood is suspenseful and exciting . I think this is because of the tension between the Malfoy's and the Weasley's. For example, “Well, well, well-Arthur Weasley. It was Mr .Malfoy. He stood with his hand on Draco's shoulder, sneering in just the same way." This book includes vivid elements of suspense and tension. All of the suspense leads to the falling action and resolution of the story. This book overall gives me a suspenseful mood and excited mood.

The tone is neutral and serious . I know this because it is a narrator narrating exactly what's going on, For example, ”A lot of wizards think it’s a waste of time ,knowing this sort of muggle trick, said Fred,”. The narrator vividly describes exactly what is going on from a third person view.

When I did open them, I stared at Father who had turned away to avoid my pain. At that moment I hated Mother to no end, but I hated Father even more.

Title: Big Nate Goes For Broke

Author: Lincoln Peirce

Mood: The mood continuously goes back in forth throughout the story and one mood is competitive. An example of this is when Nate, who's telling the story in his point of view says, " Jefferson and PS. 38 are archrivals." and goes on to also say, "Jefferson always beats us. ALWAYS. In the whole time I've been at PS. 38 we have never won anything against them." I enjoy the rivalry it gives off a rally ice underdog feeling and it's cool seeing the two schools in each book compete with each other.

Tone: The tone of the book is negative but at the same time a little positive. Nate and his friends have almost all the odds against them at most times and still they seem to pull through and are not discouraged at all. Nate and his friends are very brave for standing up to Jefferson middle and even after all this time they have yet to give up. I say negative as well because Nate is in trouble frequently for small reasons I feel he doesn't deserve them. His teachers are not the best and the kids at Jefferson continuously pick on them and they are all bigger than Nate and his friends as well.

It's so unfair."
"I heard it was murder"
"They say they never even found her body" "

Tone: The tone of the book is both wonderous and and serious. The setting and what happens there is magical but the main character is split between what she wants. She wants to be a student at Mystwick but also wants to leave or try to find a way to bring back the student who was supposed to be in her place. Some examples of this are "Maybe if I fail out of Mystwick, they'll let me stay as a janitor or something, and pay me in library loans. I'd do anything just to never leave this building again." and "And I realize then that if it would bring that other Amelia back, I'd give all of this up in a heartbeat. It belongs to her, not me.

Title: The Storyteller

Author: Aaron Starmer

Mood: The mood of the story is sometimes a bit serious. I think it is this because in the text it'll talk about one of the characters getting into trouble, and then it'll say that the character is off the hook, but then another character will be. For example, in the text it says, "The point is, Alistair is off the hook and Kyle is on it. And Kyle is the one with a hole in his belly, the one who may never walk again. Man oh man."

Tone: The tone is serious and playful at the same time. I know this because in the text, the author will talk about something serious between two characters, but will switch to the main character goofing off with her friends. For example, "Oh yeah, that's the other thing. I've been making some long-distance calls. Talking to operators in Australia to find out that information. I don't like lying, so when Mom and Dad get the bill, do you mind saying it was you who made the calls?" And then it'll say things like, "You're like the jelly to my peanut butter,"
"Why am I the jelly?" I asked.
"Jelly is sweet.".

Author: Lee Bacon

Mood: The mood is really shocking because in the book 30 years ago robots took over the world from humans that have ruined the world as we knew it so robots took it over so the world is safe. what makes it so shocking is that they run into a human for the first time in 30 years. And the robot's are told that there was a bunker with more than 100-200 humans. but the robots take the human also called emma an 12 year old girl that left her bunker because everyone .... So she left in search of a blue dot on her map that her parents gave her if she was in trouble. So the three robots go and help emma on her quest or not i have not gotten that far yet.

Tone: the tone is a surprising/confused i think they are surprised and confused because they met a human and just figured out that there was a whole human society with out the robot's knowing at all. The reason they where shocked is because they did not know that humans were able to outsmart there computer minds.

And something i did not get is how they lived during rain like RUST HELLO DO YOUR JOB.
