When I think of transcendentalism, I immediately think of nature since the writers of the early 19th century turned to "nature and to the self for simplicity, truth, and beauty" according to "A Distinctly American Voice," our unit's introduction. Anytime I walk in nature, be it our campus, or Balboa Lake, the Descanso Gardens, the Arboretum, the beach or a local hike, I feel most like my true, authentic self because I feel one with nature. I look to nature to help me de-stress and regain balance in my life; I feel an immediate change when I spend time outdoors. In addition, I’m learning to internalized yoga’s benefits. Not only do I stretch and challenge my body's flexibility, but I also allow my mind to clear itself of anxiety, worry, negative thoughts; I allow it to wander and find peace while practicing yoga. Meditating and breathing techniques are great ways to feel a strong connection to myself while I assess my true values. For my image, I chose to find a picture of a woman meditating outdoors on a beautiful day since it reflects my appreciation of nature, beauty, and yoga

One of the tenets of transcendentalism that really resonates with my personal beliefs is the sacredness of nature. I feel most empowered in my life when I walk through the forests of Mt. Piños, the hot sandy beaches of Southern Cali and with the communion I create with animals. What is more sacred than earning the trust and love of a creature that still lives through complete instinct? While I have a love
for the entire natural animal kingdom- all creatures big and small, beautiful and ugly, cuddly or cold- one animal that represents parts of my soul is the Grizzly bear. These animals are fierce, temperamental, and much like me, bigger than the average bear. Grizzlies are also loyal, have no natural enemies or predators and in fact they get along with most every other animal and, unlike many other Apex predators, they are not territorial. Playing is also an important part of their world, much as it is in mine. I chose this
picture, not only because of the Grizzly, but also for the Alaskan wilderness in which she is standing. It has its own stark beauty that compliments the primitive existence of the bear. I have been to Alaska and it is an amazing state if you are not afraid of being rugged. It has intrinsic value beyond monetary measurement and to me that is the most beautiful thing in the world.

When the word transcendentalism comes to mind I immediately think of the beach and more specifically the sidewalk next to the beach. I feel like the beach is one of the best places to explore without having a certain destination in mind. I find the nice breeze, cool weather, and the interactions between people calming and relaxing. I am especially lucky when it comes to nice beaches due to the fact that I live in California so nice beaches are very ubiquitous. I like going to the beach as often as I can because I feel that being outside and exploring new places is very important for one's mental and physical health. This is why the word transcendentalism reminds me of the beach.

I like going to lakes because they are very calm. Lakes are also very quiet and do not make much noise. The lakes are surrounded by nice trees and mountains which is also very nice. The water is not as cold as the oceans which also makes it very nice. The lake could or could not be surrounded but it is very nice to look at the view and it is very cool and beautiful too. I love going there and spending time with family and overall it is a very nice and peaceful experience. You can hear some birds flying around chirping and you get a sense of what nature really is and you get to appreciate that.

Recently the word transcendentalism has been brought up in my life a lot. Little did I know that everything in my life had at least something to do with transcendentalism. The first attribute I think of is nature. Obviously nature has a lot to do with everyone´s lives and, something I love from nature is the ocean and marine life. I feel as it is detriment to have an absence of nature in your life. To me the ocean is a big part of transcendentalism as it covers most of the earths surface and there is still a lot we do not know about the ocean. The ocean is a place where someone can relax and listen to natural sounds created by our beautiful earth. To some it is surprising that a gregarious person like me would like to be quiet and just listen to the ocean but it is something I love doing as I love listening to drake. As someone who has also slept on a boat before and has gotten on multiple ship rides, being able to go farther in the ocean is a very pleasurable experience for me as I love the ocean. The sunsets the ocean produces are also very nice and very nice to look at. Whenever I hear the word transcendentalism this picture and the ocean is the first thing that comes to mind for me.

When I think of the word Transcendentalism, I think of a sunset on the pier just hearing the waves roar smoothly, hearing the seagulls chirp, and walking either on the pier or in the sand having fun. This place really relaxes the brain or even the whole body because there's nothing bad happening around you only the ocean and other people having a good and peaceful time with each other. Especially with the nice breeze perfect weather makes it even better. The way beaches look is impeccable because of the way the atmosphere looks for example the mountains, the trees, the sky, and the pier look all so beautiful. Nature is a big part of us and everything around us, it helps you find solace. It makes it important for mental health and physical health. This is why the image I picked reminds me of the word and meaning of Transcendentalism.

For me I'd rather be cold than warm so I believe snow best suits me . Snow is very calm and peaceful very quiet since a lot of animals and people are relaxing during this time which best suits me since I really just rather stay quiet than speak and most of the time I'm relaxed and not really stresed. On the other hand of all this calmness there are the disasters of snow storms and avalances I'd like to show this since these are not too uncommon and is similar to me since avalaches are caused by a lot snow piling on a mountain eventually being too much and falling all done this happens to me a lot where it just feel like too much for me and i just can't do anything in fear of messing up, although being very hard for me eventually it'll calm down again and back to being myself again.

When the word transcendentalism comes to mind I think of the park, late at night or early in the morning. Seeing the trees and plants flow on a windy day just helps me relax. The calm scene of the park immediately puts me into a peaceful state of mind. The way the park looks as the sun is rising is impeccable as Nature is taking its course with its beautiful scenery, nothing can disturb my peace. I try to come as much as possible watching how much plants have grown over time or how they've changed. This is why the word transcendentalism reminds me of the park.

When I hear the word transcendentalism, my mind will go to a lake with crystalline blue water, reflected by the blue sky with a calmness that can't be replicated. This is a quiet, calm, and relaxing place, away from the noisy and loud city. A place surrounded by nature, where one can go and relax, and find self-reliance not being influenced by others. The atmosphere there can be the most soothing by having nature's elements combine create a sense of peace and serenity. When I think of transcendentalism I think of a stormy night. When it's pouring at night I just hear the rain hitting the windows. The rain has always calmed me in a way because I was growing up different from other kids so my grandpa whenever I saw him we would always stand outside in the night and we would see everything. On a stormy night my grandpa would say look at the storm it looks nice when it's a stormy night then a normal night. So ever since then i look at a stormy night and think of my grandpa and how nice it is and reminds me that he's with me.

Being able to be as free as a cat in the earth's natural landscape, is the true definition of peace. Cats are playful animals that are unbothered and enjoy the outdoors. Being in an environment like this, you can feel all your problems being melted away and enter a state of tranquility. I believe there is nothing greater than finding peace within the little things. When I get mad at something like my brother or when I play video games. I think of a waterfall and just admiring the water just the waterfall and sometimes I have dreams about going to the waterfall. When I think of the word Transcendentalism, I think of a dark cold, and foggy forest. I find comfort in the breeze and the darkness allows me to feel relaxed, like my thoughts could run free. This picture is from a time i went to a family friend’s farm. They had tons of horses and a really cute big white daisy yak. I personally love this picture because it reminds me of weirdcore, and weirdcore is a genre where things that aren’t usually normal are placed everywhere to be out of place and odd and in this picture, there is a random door that gives an unsettling, questionable but comfortable feeling to me. The sky was really pretty and the air felt fresh, the view was overall very majestic and euphoric. The tall grass also made me feel safe and surrounded by warmness, with the nice flow from the wind gliding across the flowers and weeds, it felt as if I were in a dream.

Overlooking the city's or town's would have to be my most calming place to escape. I love the momentum feeling of feeling as if i'm bigger than the world, my problems, and anything. The belief of transcendentalism, has this philosophy and feeling of divinity in it. For this reason, my first thought is the ocean as a place I feel at peace and best represents me. I like visiting the ocean in order to de-stress myself and control my emotions and it's a great time to learn about myself. To me, emotions are all important and deserve to be acknowledged, but they are also a response to something. An event, action, thoughts, we are not infallible so it is good to try and understand why we think or act the way we do. And to me the Ocean provides this sensory setting to relax and learn.

When I think of Transcendentalism, I think of a beautiful sky with a fresh breeze and a tree to lean on. I think of this spot because all of my thoughts that I am thinking of are gone. With the stress that I have on my mind, I can just shut them off and admire where I am at right now. Even by just looking at the sky it makes me feel so relieved. Taking a good nap here also sounds so calming. I would love to listen to music while painting/drawing and admiring the beautiful view that is in front of me.

When I think of the word transcendentalist I start to think of the sunset and hearing the ruff waves. I chose this picture because looking at it seems so peaceful and I really love how the sky has so many colors like blue, purplish, and orange. The clouds somewhat look like they are very far away mountains but to me, it is a very beautiful view and just imagining the sound of the waves and how chilly it ends up getting since the sun is going away. The beach and the sunset really help just seeing how everything there brings me peace with just a sound and the sight of certain things.

This image is one that always speaks to me. As a Christian, it is sometimes very difficult to do as the Scriptures say. There are many obstacles that tend to get in the way of my scrupulous choices. Spiritual warfare is a daily battle, but this image reminds me that I don't need to worry about any secular difficulties when I have someone who wouldn't trade me for anyone else. He has a purpose for me and the Bible shows us many of the promises He has made that will help us get out of brutal circumstances. There are times when I feel as though I'm alone and not even God is with me but that's a massive lie. He is always with me, especially in my lowest moments.

When I think of something in nature that I appreciate its a large rodent known as the Capybara. They lead a lifestyle I can only wish of achieving, spending their days eating grass, relaxing under the shade near bodies of water. They are friendly towards almost all animals and humans and very peaceful in general. I think this represents me because I would want to live a more quiet and peaceful life so when I see these animals they give me inspiration and joy.

When I think about nature all I can see is a lake with a mountain side view that just makes you wanna sit back and relax. I've always liked lakes because I really like to swim,especially all the great stories I've also heard about them. A lake is like a gigantic swimming pool but with the best view you can possibly have with all the nature around you. It makes me feel at peace with my surroundings. The sounds you're going to be hearing like the waterfalls,birds chirping,the nice sounds of the water moving there is no better sound to hear than that. Being in a lake also has all the main elements of life water,fire,wind,earth and many more actually so its one of the most places where you can have the most energy if that makes sense to you.

When I think of transcendentalism, I instantly think of nature and how beautiful it is, the plants that give us oxygen, I feel happy around nature. When I'm outdoors I immediately feel peace like I forget about stress or worry. I love the beach, walking, and thinking while surrounded by a beautiful sunset and the ocean I love to hear the ocean waves, it makes me feel so relaxed. The most important thing to do at the beach is reflect on how I could improve current situations on what I could do to make it better when I visit the beach again I like to review if I did improve or not and set more goals.

When I think of the word "Transcendentalism", I think of the beach, preferably at sunrise. The reason for this is that when you are walking along the beach, you feel as if you yourself are connected to the beach. You feel, confident, free, and at peace. You let go of anything you are holding on to and you are able to drown your worries. Especially when you feel the wind blow against the palm trees and feel as the wind goes through your hair. The feelings of the waves crashing at shore and the seagulls passing by. You feel happy about how quiet it is and you feel like you have nothing to worry about.

When I think of transcendentalism I think of the sunset with a soft breeze and chill day. Any type of sunset anywhere is the most relaxing thing i can experience, especially if its a the beach and you just see the pretty colors fade into the night sky. The reason I chose the sunset at the beach was because it makes me happy when I think about it. Hearing the waves, diving in the big waves, and being able to get the fresh air and feeling the breeze is the best feeling that I could ask for. A place where you could go for peace and just feel relieved when you get there is just the best part of nature and just being grateful to see it again is the best combination to me. Being able to hear the waves, the birds, and also the laughter of your friends is so refreshing and relaxing but also the happiest memory. You may have the best, or the worst day but going to the beach just relives you and your just able to let everything out there and its a gift that we should be grateful for and not take it for granted.

I think of Transcendentalism as what you think of yourself, how you see yourself as nature. How I see myself as nature is the rainforest. People may say "The rainforest is dangerous", I do agree but it's not that. I see the rainforest as the beauty of green. In this photo, you can see so many bright green plants and trees and the waterfall shines. The rainforest is beautiful to me cause it's how I see myself as nature. My favorite color is green, so the rainforest colors accompany me. The rainforest seems very calming to me. I could hear the sounds of parrots' whistles, the sound of the waterfall, and all of the other animals living in the rainforest. I believe I could see my own reflection in the water. The colorful water is majestic, if I could swim I would've done so but I don't know how to swim. Now in the night, I feel it would be the best in the night, the night sky shines down towards the water making it shine better than before. This is why I think this image reminds me of the meaning of Transcendentalism.

When I think transcendentalism I think of trees, how we need trees to survive and I feel like trees just put everything together in the wilderness, and it's also important to animals because they make homes in trees. Trees also benefit humans in so many different ways, they give us oxygen. When I see trees it reminds me that we need to be grateful for what we were given, and what we made. Trees are beautiful blessings that we need to take care of and stop destroying. If it weren´t for the trees, we wouldn´t have been here for as long as we have, that's why I appreciate them.

When I think of the word Transcendentalism, I think of a beautiful scenary of a lake. the vibrant crystal blue water glistening, the sun is giving it the gorgeous glimmer. the emerald green trees standing so tall and so healthy. The breeze in the air feels so nice, it helps me relax. I hear all the sounds of nature all forming and its beautiful. A lake to me remindes me of a safe place, there are fishes and geese that live in lakes, all the beautiful trees towering and reflecting on the aqua blue water. The clouds look so fluffy and soft, I love to watch them as they slowly drift away. A lake to me is impeccable. There is so much life and relaxation to a lake.
