In the United States of America, the First Amendment to the Constitution backs up 'Freedom of Speech' which lets all Americans criticise the government and its actions, without persecution for doing so. We can judge the past governments by using historical perspective to judge the intentions behind the government's actions in the past. Their intention doesn't make their actions any better, but helps us judge why they chose to do what they did in the past. Though we can judge their actions by using historical perspective, we can't fully understand why they acted in certain ways because things were different in that timeframe compared to present day. Societal and cultural norms are very different now compared to the past. As time progresses it is very important to reflex on the past and to look at the effects certain actions had on someone or something, whether it be negative or positive there is always something to learn and take away from the past. In specific to WWII, the judgment call made from new president, Harry to release not one but two atomic bombs that took over 400 000 civilian lives  is one to look back on.
