The market revolution was a process that included the new technology of transportation of goods and communication between others. Before this occurred, many markets were local and people were making things for themselves but then the people started making things to sell. Because the markets were local, not many could travel to different markets to trade. Canals, roads, ports, and railroads were all new technologies to increase the trade and sell of goods. These new technologies increased the production of goods and made it easier to get and sell the goods from place to place. Factories were also created to increase faster and more efficient production. In these factories, they would gather people and split up the tasks which made production much faster and efficient. Most factories ran on water power, but after 1840 steam power was introduced so factories could be located in other places instead of just by water. The market revolution also included the invention of the telegraph. The telegraph allowed merchants to know when to expect their shipments and how much they could expect to sell them for. More information meant more big markets. The Market Revolution had one of the greatest effects on the modern day economy because without these new technologies and factories, we would not be able to transport goods to different places to sell them. Today, we export items to Canada, China, Mexico, Japan, etc. Without the introduction to new technologies during this time, we would not be able to export and import things from different countries/states. Also, without the use of factories, we would not be able to produce many products as efficient as we do now. The production time today, would take much longer without the introduction of factories back then. Since things are being produced faster and can be sold to many countries, the economy is making more money because more people are buying the products.
Citation for information: Green, J.

The assembly line is a process that used people to create things while working together. For example, while making a car, people would make parts on the tires, then other people would put the tires together and so on down the line. In the 1900s, the assembly line that Henry Ford created was simple and mostly inexpensive. This created a way to make a car more efficiently so he could lower the price of his cars. Without the use of the assembly line, we wouldn't produce things effectively and efficiently. It would take so long to make one product, while the assembly line gets the product done quicker and more effectively. Today, factories and machines make the product so the workers are less likely to get injuries and the machines work faster than humans. With the assembly line, the economy today has increased because more people are buying these products because they are being produced faster and more effectively.

Citation: H.

The telephone/telegraph had a big effect on today's modern day economy because people can communicate without being in the same room. People can communicate from anywhere. In the 1830s, Samuel Morse and other inventors created the telegraph. This worked by "transmitting electrical signals over a wired laid between stations." (History.com Editors, 2009). The telegraph was communicated using morse code, instead of talking to people using words. As time goes on, Alexander Graham Bell created the telephone. In 1875, Bell and Thomas Watson came up with a receiver that turned electricity into sound. By 1877, the phone company now known as AT&T was created. This invention had a big impact on the modern day economy because now with this type of communication, this offers many people jobs, such as factory workers and phone carrier store workers. This also helps business owners/workers communicate faster, easier for business to expand to other countries, and for people in general to communicate with each other faster. As business expand and more people want to buy the telephone, the economy increases due to more money income which is a positive effect.

Citation:
- History.com Editors.
