Living as a colonist comes with a lot of struggles. We share the work everyday, and a lot of it. Every morning, I have to take out a carrying pole and two buckets, go to the well, gather some water, come back in, and repeat the process until we have enough for the day. Just two days ago though, it was mainly a free day, if you exclude the garden and field work. My body's aching, but I hope sleep can fix that for tomorrow. Everyday is a work day, after all.

Being a colonists isn't presented with much excitement. I decided to start the day early today with my dad. He taught me some basics about math before I had to go help out in the kitchen. I am very pleased with the aroma coming from the food that was cooking. I was looking forward to thoroughly enjoying the meal when I was reminded that I still needed water. I took a lengthy path that took much longer to walk than expected. Then, I fill up two buckets of water and start walking back. I carry the buckets home; my limbs nonexistent, but there's not much I can do about it.

Once that's done, I eat breakfast and get ready for the day ahead of me. My first chore of the day is to get water from the well. Filling up the bucket is painful, with each inch I pull the bucket up, hoping that I don't spill any of the water. As I carried my buckets of water back home, my back is facing extreme levels of pain. I realized again that this was my first chore out of many.

As a colonist, I find it hard to keep up. There's always something to do, learn, play, and especially somewhere to be. Today, it was my responsibility to go fetch water since my brother was busy helping out my father in the fields. After making my bed and finishing all my morning chores, I went to the well. The walk there is much easier than the walk from. To be quite honest, I spilled some water on myself while carrying the heavy buckets, my shoulders not used to the weight. My clothes dried as I got back home due to the burning sun. For the rest of my eventful day, I helped my mother make our dinner meal and my father taught me more numbers when he arrived home. Collapsing in my bed, there wasn't that much to look forward to tomorrow. I guess the grind just never stops.

Getting water from the well, scrubbing the floor, polishing silver, etc. Being a colonist is difficult, we barely get any free time and even during that time I'm too tired to play anything. School isn't treating me any better than labor. We have to learn some more words, do some more arithmetic, and then write some more. I'm not entirely sure but I think tomorrow is Sunday, so I should be able to take a nice break after 6 straight days of work .

Life as a colonist comes with many responsibilities and hardships. Education is very minimal unless your family has the money and status to provide schooling. I woke up I set my bed, cleaned the floors of the house, and helped mother with the morning meals. I also brought in water from the well, and tended to the garden by our house, but something unimaginable happened at the well. Another girl who had gone before me suddenly tripped over a rock and spilled the water she was carrying in her buckets. She left for home all wet and wasn't ready to give her parents an explanation of what happened. I tried to be extra careful after that. Anyways, coming back, I noticed that the daughters and sons of the blacksmiths and silversmiths did jobs like sweeping, making sure the area is tidy, and polishing silver, which are different from my jobs. Then, upon arriving home, my brother and I went to help out in the field to tend to crops and cattle. Even though most of my day I spend working, when I finish my chores I occasionally play jacks, hoop and stick, and dance. Even though life is hard I still find time to enjoy my time as kid.

I groan while making my bed because I know that another day of chores is here. Right now I am supposed to fetch water because the males of my house are doing labor outdoors. As I bring the water in after a strenuous effort, my mother yells at me to fix lunch. Cooking with my mother is a daily thing, but she occasionally lets me sew with her.

Being a humble farm is my job. Not many people respect this position but I think it is very important because we grow the town's food. I have to wake up very early in the mornin and go milk the cows. There are times when I first started that I milked the cow in the wrong place and got kicked in the stomach. Next, while it is still cool, I go out to field to harvest the crops mainly tobacco and wheat. Tobacco seems to be really popular around these parts and seems to make them happy. Around noon time I go home to have dinner (because back then lunch was called dinner) Usually some leftover meat and vegetables. Not the best tasting but very filling. During the afternoon I have to chop logs and also tend to the pigs and cattle. The pigs especially are hard because they never seem to get tired of corn. My back aching and my legs sore, I go to my house for supper with my family. We ate chicken with cornbread. Then, after bathing I climb hurriedly into bed relieved that the day is over.

Normal kids most likely do not have an education, but my parents value my studies tremendously. That is why, even though my parents are not in the higher class, I go to school. After I get home from school, I finish my chores. I do the dishes, wash the clothes, and buy the groceries. My brothers and I split all the work while my parents only focus on their work. Sure, they help sometimes, but it is my responsibility to finish them. Today in particular, I have went to my parent's work to help.

Today was a day like any other, nothing truly exciting happened, sadly. I had to get water for our tobacco harvest later this month, and the pails felt extra heavy this time, because my parents were glaring at me for not making my bed again. Later I must tend to the crops again, then perhaps I will play hoops or hit the sticks.

The work isn't just time-consuming and boring, it's also very tiring. I have do chores, then go to school, come back to do chores, then learn my trade from my parents and do it all over again the next day for 6 days a week. At least on Sunday, I can have a relaxing day so I can rest for the next week.

Being a colonist is not easy even if you are not a slave who has even harder lives. Everyday there are chores waiting for us children to do. My family values education greatly; therefore, I luckily can read and write though I am still learning. However, my lessons are on and off because everyone is homeschooled, and if the parents are busy, then we will not learn for that day in addition to the fact that we have a lot of work to do to. I did not want to wake up today, but of course, I was dragged up and had to make my bed. I then, after a bit of breakfast, scrubbed the floors which is not fun at all. Splash, splash. The water from the damp, dripping bucket that I had just hauled up from the deep well flew into another supposedly more dry bucket. The sides of the well darkened in color as I am pouring the water in. I had just walked through the blazing sun for about a mile to get here, but now, ahhhhh, just thinking about it, I now have to carry this water dripping stick with water in buckets at the end that is constantly at the risk of feeding the earth and plants is making my head hurt. Luckily for me, it will be my break soon as I had been getting water for a while now. For fun, I will be playing some board games that would help me count as well as some outdoors games that involves running. Then, I would probably help my mom in the kitchen, for I do somehow have a talent with food and ingredients. In the evening, if it is not a busy day, then I will be learning more words; I am very excited. My day would probably pass through like what I just listed if all goes well. Then, all goes into repeat, hopefully...

Being a colonist is very hard a time consuming. I have to wake up at dawn just to chores to whole day. I don't even have a proper education. I hate working on the field since I have to work dusk till dawn. I know I hate working on the farm but it is for the greater good. There is barely enough food to feed the people feed the people of this town. Even getting water is a struggle we have to get the water from the well and by the time it reaches the destination about half the water is already gone. Surviving each day is always a struggle but I manage to get through each and every day. I yearn that I can finish my work so
I can play with my friends. Most of my family has died from a disease or starvation because we don't have proper medication and getting food is hard. I wish someday life will be easier...

I spent many years mastering the skills of a blacksmith, whitesmith, founder, and woodworker. I began as an apprentice at the age of 13, I acquired all the skills needed by the age of 21. I spent 4 years refining my skills, and at the age of 25 my work began. A gunsmith must have a steady hand, and work swiftly but with precision. As of right now I am 35 and I make arms and artillery to defend ourselves and hunt as well. I spend only a day producing just one weapon though, I first have to gather the materials, the shape them into a specific shape. I have to smooth out each and every piece and once that is finished, I carefully carve the wood portions of the gun and engrave unique and elaborate designs in the steel of a gun. It is much cheaper and less time consuming to import guns than craft weapons. That is why I mostly just repair weapons, or items made by blacksmiths such as tools and steel objects.

I do my chores, such as, getting water and guiding slaves. I have to get my job done every single day. My job is very boring. My family only grows enough food for my family alone. Soemtimes my family doesn't have a lot of food to eat becuase we need to store it for when winter comes along. I sometimes cook for my siblings when my mother is too tired. The work is really tiring and I feel bad for my brother who has more gruesome work than I do.

Waking up and working all day makes my life super difficult, but I deal with it because it's my job as a farmer to work the fields and take care of animals plus the crops I grow. My position isn't very respected although I grow the towns food and their milk. It gives a lot of stress and pressure to be a farmer but as a farmer you could care less if you do what you love, like me. I milk the cows because everyone would rather be off doing their own thing. This morning I though I milked a cow but instead I guess it was a cow, in result of that hiccup, I ended up with my ribs broken and my stomach bleeding but it's okay because although being a farmer is tough its my favorite thing to do
