He conducted his famous key-and-kite in 1752. he invented the lightning rod very shortly after the experiment. Ben also coined terms such as battery, charge, conductor, and electrify.

Alessandro Volta created the first electrical battery. He didn't set out to create the battery, but instead he was set out to prove another scientist wrong. In 1972, another scientist was doing an experiment where he put two pieces of metal into a pair of frog legs and made them move. Volta discovered from this experiment that when the two metals touched that the spark was made, so Volta used this information to invent the battery.

While teaching, Ohm was doing experiments with the conductivity of different metals and the behavior of different circuits. after doing the experiment many, many times he discovered the relationship between voltage, current, and resistance in an electrical circuit. This formula was I=V/R. we now measure the resistance of circuits in Ohms.

In 1840, Joule was experimenting with electric motors to see if he could replace the old steam motors in his family brewery. This allowed him to discover "Joule's Law". He established a relationship between the flow of current through a resistance, and the heat generated. The derived unit of energy or work, the Joule, was named after him.

One of the first feats of electrical history that Tesla invented was the AC unit. He also invented the "Tesla coil," which is still used today in radio technology. The heart of an electrical circuit, the Tesla coil is an inductor used in many early radio transmission antennas. The coil works with a capacitor to resonate current and voltage from a power source across the circuit. Tesla himself used his coil to study fluorescence, x-rays, radio, wireless power and electromagnetism in the earth and its atmosphere. Around 1900, Tesla set out to invent a global, wireless communication system. It would be transmitted through a large electrical tower, and would help share information and provide electricity all over the world
